Abstract: A method configures, in a semi-automatic manner, a communication device, connected to a packet-switched network, especially Internet, for communication with another, especially remote, subscriber. For this purpose, configuration data are provided on a configuration/software update server and are retrieved by the user of the device according to the user-specific or device-specific conditions by selecting from at least two types of inquiry data characterizing the conditions, e.g. inquiry data containing first country information items and second inquiry data containing second Internet service provider information items, and determination data.

Abstract: By storing part of a telephone book request in a telephone, telephone book data stored in a telephone book data bank in a server may be used by a telephone for telephone applications. A direct telephone book search in the telephone data bank of the server by a dedicated protocol is initiated by the telephone by transmission of search criteria. The telephone receives in exchange the search results and can understand the semantics of the search results based on markings in the dedicated protocol, such that the data of the search result can be used directly for telephone-specific operations. For example, outgoing telephone calls, storage in a local telephone book and determination of call number information on incoming telephone calls may be performed at the telephone using the search results.

Abstract: An access unit (25) for configuring a first and second network-layer protocol for use over the point-to-point link and to facilitate communication between an Internet Service Provider (ISP) (20) and a data processing system (12) over the link. The data processing system (12) includes a first 28(1) and second protocol stack 28(2). The access unit (25) includes a multi-protocol (32) driver for routing a packet received from the ISP (20), a Wide Area Network (WAN) access driver (24) adapted to monitor an establishment of the link connection to capture a maximum receive unit, and a converter (23) adapted to receive a trigger from the WAN access driver (24), the trigger for indicating to the converter (23) to configure the second network-layer protocol on the link.

Abstract: A display scheduling device and a display method of a mobile telephone light emitting diode display system characterized wherein the display scheduling device includes a priority level grouping unit, a display queue unit, a timing queue unit, and a scheduling program unit. The scheduling program unit refers to mobile telephone state priority level groupings which are held in the priority level grouping unit and, by comparing the priority level of a currently occurring mobile telephone state with the priority level of a mobile telephone state which is at the head of a queue in the display queue unit, it can effect rational and effective scheduling with respect to random and concurrent mobile telephone state messages and cause these to be displayed in the mobile telephone's message display system, and, due to the use of the display queue unit and the timing queue unit, there is no loss of mobile telephone state messages which need to be displayed.
