Patent number: 8229195Abstract: Detected lung nodules are presented in a chest radiographic sub-image. A curve is matched to pixels in the sub-image and confidence values for individual pixels is determined. A confidence image is generated consisting of the confidence values at the position of the respective pixel. Separated regions of pixels within the confidence image are identified which have a confidence value greater than a threshold confidence value. A filtered confidence image is generated consisting of the separated regions of the confidence image which are larger than a threshold area. A histogram of values characteristic for the matching of the curve is determined, wherein the filtered confidence image is used as a mask, such that only values are considered for the histogram which correspond to the separated regions of the filtered confidence image. A statistical measure of the histogram is determined and the lung nodules are verified based on the statistical measure.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2009Date of Patent: July 24, 2012Assignee: Siemens Information Systems, Ltd.Inventor: Mausumi Acharyya

Patent number: 8227951Abstract: In a three-phase permanent-magnet synchronous machine, a pole gap and a skew of permanent magnets on the rotor are designed such that oscillating torques which are caused by the fifth and seventh harmonics of the stator field and of the rotor field are mutually reduced. In particular, the skew can be chosen as a function of the pole gap, such that the majority of the respective oscillating torques is neutralized. This results in minimal torque ripple.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2009Date of Patent: July 24, 2012Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Udo Grossmann, Rolf Vollmer, Michael Zastrow

Patent number: 8229149Abstract: A hearing apparatus to be worn on or in the ear is provided, which includes a housing. The housing is here formed at least in part from an electrochrome polymer. Since electrochrome polymers represent a homogeneous material, this means that they can be printed onto the housing in very thin layers. According to a second aspect the present invention relates to a hearing apparatus to be worn on or in the ear, including a housing, which has an organic light-emitting diode. Because organic light-emitting diodes are able to separate out light in a wide variety of colors, this permits a high contrast to the environment and the colors appear stronger. Unlike conventional light-emitting diodes this is however performed in a printing process, so that it is possible to provide any surfaces with organic light-emitting diodes.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2008Date of Patent: July 24, 2012Assignee: Siemens Medical Instruments Pte.
