  • Publication number: 20120179382
Abstract: A system for heart performance characterization and abnormality detection detects peaks and at least one of, a valley and a baseline comprising a substantially zero voltage level, of received signal data representing oxygen content of blood in a patient vessel over multiple heart beat cycles. The signal processor determines signal parameters including at least one of, (a) a signal amplitude magnitude between a maximum peak and minimum valley, of the received signal data, (b) a signal amplitude magnitude between a maximum peak and a baseline, of the received signal data and (c) a signal amplitude magnitude between a second highest maximum peak and minimum valley, of the received signal data. The system compares a determined signal parameter or value derived from the determined signal parameter, with a threshold value and generates an alert message associated with the threshold, in response to the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20120179821
Abstract: In at least one example embodiment, the invention relates to a computer-implemented method, a computer-implemented system and a computer program product for controlling the access to splittable resources in a distributed client server system operating in parallel. The resource control system is designed for a plurality of clients connected to the system and is used to maintain consistency of the data. When a client makes a first attempt to access a resource of the server, an exclusive lock for the requested resource is allocated to the accessing client, that blocks the access to the resource for other clients, said exclusive lock only being allocated for a pre-determinable period of time and then automatically discontinued.

  • Publication number: 20120179034
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable mediums are provided that determine the angular orientation of detectors and detector electronic assemblies (“DEAs”). In various embodiments, the orientation of detectors/DEAs (in the ring) is determined with respect to other detectors/DEAs in the ring, the orientation of the detectors/DEAs with respect to a patient bed, or the orientation of the detectors/DEAs with respect to Earth's gravitational field. In another embodiment, a nuclear medical imaging system has one or more detector units arranged around or that can be swept around a patient bed. Each of the detector units includes an angular orientation-sensing accelerometer. By determining angular orientation of the detector from signals outputted by the accelerometer, the circumferential position of the detector relative to the patient bed can be determined. That information is used in conjunction with information about detected events to construct an image of an organ or tissue mass of interest.

  • Publication number: 20120175209
Abstract: Retard energy regenerated from an electrical motor during braking action is reinjected into a power system via trolley lines. The retard energy may be transmitted to a bidirectional electric substation and returned to a utility grid. The retard energy may also be transmitted to an auxiliary energy storage system, such as an ultracapacitor system or a battery system. Installing trolley lines for mining haul trucks on a downhill slope may be used to capture and re-use substantial quantities of retard energy.

  • Publication number: 20120180019
Abstract: A computer implemented method for evaluating quality control data of a product manufactured by a partially automated manufacturing process. In the method, a database is generated which includes design specifications for the product. Manufacturing data generated from inspection of the product at each stage of the partially automated process is then received. The manufacturing data is then compared with the design specifications to determine whether the manufacturing data meets the design specifications. In one embodiment, the product is an induction coil used in electric motors.

  • Patent number: 8218803
Abstract: In the case of a receiver facility to be fixed in the auditory canal, particularly for hearing devices with an external receiver, the receiver is to be mounted in the earmold in an acoustically advantageous fashion which guards against contaminations and is also easily exchangeable. Provision is thus made for a receiver facility with a longish receiver and a earmold, which has a borehole, into which the receiver is inserted. A tubular connector, which is more elastic than the receiver and the earmold, is used to accommodate for the most part the longitudinal extension of the receiver in a friction-locking fashion. The connector is for its part force-fitted into a borehole of the earmold in a friction-locking fashion. The receiver is thus elastically mounted and can be easily removed from the earmold together with the connector with the aid of a pin-like tool for replacement purposes.

  • Patent number: 8218726
Abstract: An imaging tomography apparatus has electronic components provided to operate the tomography apparatus, with at least one of the electronic components exhibiting a power consumption in high power operation that is significantly increased relative to power consumption in normal operation. The imaging tomography apparatus has an energy storage that, in high power operation, supplies the at least one electronic component with additional electrical energy to cover an energy demand due to the difference in power consumption between normal operation and high power operation. The provision of the additional electrical power in high power operation by means of the energy storage allows the modules that participate in the power supply of the at least one electronic component to be realized with lower cost. Such participating modules can be, for example: the mains connection, junction boxes with power switches (safeguards); a transformer, a rectifier, cables, slip ring brushes, slip ring tracks, etc.
