Abstract: In a method and processing device for image reconstruction from raw data acquired with a medical imaging examination apparatus, in particular from data of magnetic resonance tomography, an algorithm to be used for the image reconstruction is loaded into at least one reprogrammable FPGA, the reprogrammable FPGA, accesses via a data connection, the acquired raw data as well as calculation parameters provided for the image reconstruction and reconstruction image data are calculated from the raw data by the FPGA, dependent on the calculation parameters.
Abstract: In a method as well as a magnetic resonance tomography apparatus for implementation of such a method for improved sensitivity-encoded magnetic resonance imaging using a two-dimensional or three-dimensional acquisition coil array, two-dimensional or three-dimensional undersampling of k-space is undertaken by measurement of a number N of basic partial trajectories ?n in k-space that in their entirety form a geometric arrangement of source points, a number M of different operators Cm(? km) are determined, with each operator representing an algebraic transformation with which unmeasured target points at an interval ? km from one of the measured source points are synthesized from a number of measured source points, the operators Cm(? km) are applied to at least one subset of the measured source points for at least partial completion of the magnetic resonance data set, and a largely artifact-free image is reconstructed in three-dimensional space on the basis of the measured source points and the synthesized data po

Abstract: A pattern of depressions (36) in a sealing surface (34) on a CMC wall (32) of gas turbine ring segment (30) allows minimum clearance against turbine blades tips, and thus maximizes working gas sealing. An array of depressions (36) on the surface (34) increases abradability of the surface (34) by blade tip contact during zero clearance conditions and reduces blade tip damage. The depressions (36) are unconnected, preventing bypass of the working gas around the blade tips. A desired abradable surface geometry may be formed in a stacked laminate wall construction (40-43, 52) by staggered laminate edge profiles (50, 52) or by machining of depressions (36, 54) after construction.
Abstract: A blade is provided for a gas turbine. The blade comprises a main body comprising a cooling fluid entrance channel; a cooling fluid collector in communication with the cooling fluid entrance channel; a plurality of side channels extending through an outer wall of the main body and communicating with the cooling fluid collector and a cooling fluid cavity; a cooling fluid exit channel communicating with the cooling fluid cavity; and a plurality of exit bores extending from the cooling fluid exit channel through the main body outer wall.

Abstract: Porous polymeric membranes formed from a hydrophobic polymer, such as halar having membrane pores of a size sufficient to permit gas and/or vapor permeation 0.05 ?m to 5 ?m without permitting the flow of a hydrophilic fluid across the membrane. Pore distribution is uniform and porosity is high, in some cases up to 80%. Membranes may be in the form of a flay sheet or hollow fibre for example and can be used in a variety of applications such as stripping HF gas, degassing of caustic solution, chlorine gas/alkaline filtration, degassing tap water to remove dissolved chlorine. Processes used to make such membranes can be carried out using relatively non toxic solvents such as citric acid ethyl ester or glycerol triacetate.
Abstract: A method is provided for determining and monitoring parameters of a radiation treatment. The method comprises producing a first image of a region of a patient body to be radiated using a medical imaging process, determining a parameter setting of a radiation system using the first image, and providing the radiation treatment to the body region to be radiated using the radiation system with the determined parameter setting. The method further comprises producing a second image of the body region radiated with the parameter setting, automatically comparing the first image and the second image, and generating a deviation signal when a difference between the first image and the second image exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

Abstract: A process for segmenting an object of interest from background, comprising: obtaining a master, high-resolution image of an object disposed within a background; applying a first band graph cut process to the master image generating a second image with the object being segmented from the background to a first approximation; and, comparing the second image with the master image to produce a comparison image with pixels identified by the comparison to be background images being removed from the comparison image.
Abstract: A computer-implemented method is disclosed for comparing three dimensional (3D) digital medical images. The method uses a reference MPR to position subsequent MPRs in one or more other 3D digital medical images so their content matches the reference MPR. The matched MPRs may then be used by a medical professional to diagnose a patient condition. The ability to quickly and automatically position matching MPRs for multiple 3D images eases the medical staff workload and shortens diagnostics time. Matching MPRs provides an effective way to view the 3D volumes for anatomical changes over time and to monitor medical conditions such as stenosis and tumors.

Abstract: A method is provided for adjusting the thickness of the welding bead of two bands obtained by butt welding by means of a laser beam without using filler material. The bands are clamped in jaws, both cut edges being spaced apart by a reference distance. Then the mobile jaw is moved along a travel. Said travel differs from said reference distance by an offset calculated in relation to the thickness of the bands, and while taking into account the degree of accuracy of the positioning and of the cut of said edges. The offset is counted as positive or negative, in order to obtain a final welding position such that it exists, between the edges, an actual allowance, positive or negative, adapted to the thickness of the bands.
Abstract: A method and an appropriate acoustic signal processing device estimate a set of linear predictive coding coefficients of a microphone signal using minimum mean-square error estimation with a codebook containing several predetermined sets of linear predictive coding coefficients. The method includes determining sums of weighted backward transition probabilities describing the transition probabilities between the predetermined sets of linear predictive coding coefficients. The backward transition probabilities are obtained from signal training data by mapping the signal training data to one set of the codebook and by determining relative frequencies of transitions between two of the sets of the codebook. Modelling the “memory” of the codebook has the advantage that the accuracy of estimating linear predictive coding coefficients is increased considerably also for speech components.
