  • Patent number: 4426605
Abstract: So as to permit operating a shunt-wound motor with the series characteristic without the use of electronic armature current adjusters, it is proposed to start the motor (1) with the connection of start-up resistances (R.sub.1 -R.sub.4) and to control each step added by means of a comparator by a minimum armature current value (I.sub.A min o -I.sub.A min 4) specifically predetermined for each step. After said minimum value specific to each step has been reached, the comparator (7) actuates a guide and a regulating switch (S.sub.w, S.sub.x), whereby the minimum armature current value so reached specific to the step is kept constant by means of adjusting the excitation (I'.sub.E), and a limiting unit (17) prevents the exciting current (I'.sub.E) from dropping below a predetermined minimum value (I'.sub.E mn), which, at higher numbers of revolution (n), again leads to the shunt characteristic, now with reduced excitation (I'.sub.E min) and the resistances (R.sub.1 -R.sub.

  • Patent number: 4424751
Abstract: The lifting step of the entry stair for rail vehicles is guided on both sides by two parallel guide brackets and while staying parallel to an extendable and retractable vehicle floor, forms a shallow arc from one end position to the other. In its upper end position it is level with the vehicle floor. The vehicle door closes along its outer edge with an elastic door seal. The folding step turns around the turning axis. In the "up" position the folding step stands about vertically and, together with the covering plate attached to the lifting step, forms a flush covering apron completing the side wall of the vehicle. The angle of incline for the stairs, in general, might be about 40.degree.. This stair system does not form any niches when in the "under way" position wherein ice and snow could accumulate. Nor does this stairway require additional covering parts such as movable covering aprons, etc.

  • Patent number: 4354589
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for grouping flat items in stacks, particularly cookies which are advanced to a grouping device in at least three mutually parallel channels. The grouping device forms mixed groups of the items such that each group contains at least one item taken from each channel. For the purpose of compensating for an undersupply of items in at least one channel, the quantity of items which is normally taken from such an undersupplied channel is decreased by a first quantity and the quantity of items which is normally taken from the other, normally supplied channels is increased by a second quantity such that as the cadenced removal of items from the channels progresses, the number of items in the obtained mixed groups remains constant.

  • Patent number: 4294175
Abstract: This disclosure concerns a spring system between the body of a railroad car and the wheel supporting truck. The spring system includes a coil spring for absorbing vertical forces and includes a rubber layer spring for absorbing lateral forces, the latter resulting from lateral impact and movement of the railway car along curves in the track. The last mentioned rubber spring is coaxial with and placed inside the first-mentioned coil spring, thereby minimizing the vertical height of the spring system. A pair of spring washers extends laterally between the car body and the truck. The spring washers are held apart by the coil spring. The rubber spring is divided between a first section above the upper spring washer and the undercarriage of the car and a second section beneath the lower spring washer and the frame of the truck. The spring washers have a plurality of troughs for receiving a plurality of sets of springs.

  • Patent number: 4275775
Abstract: A dosing system for filling a receptacle with a predetermined desired weight of flowable bulk material. The system has a main dosing apparatus for charging the receptable to an extent less than the predetermined weight and an additional dosing apparatus for complementally charging each receptacle to an extent equal to the deviation between the desired weight and the actual weight resulting from the charging by the main dosing apparatus. The additional dosing apparatus has a dispensing wheel having a plurality of cells of predetermined volume. There is further provided a movably supported shroud member having a shroud face extending along a circumferential portion of the wheel and separating an inlet chamber from an outlet chamber. The position of the shroud member is adjustable for determining a minimum clearance between the shroud face and the periphery of the wheel. A spring urges the shroud member towards the wheel for allowing a resilient yielding movement of the shroud member away from the wheel.

  • Patent number: 4252065
Abstract: A passageway system (vestibule system) for providing a space and passage for passengers to walk between two vehicles, especially railway cars. In order to provide complete protection from the elements, the entire passageway is surrounded by a sealing membrane and the two separable portal halves are joined together and are held in a well-defined central position. Due to the construction of the passageway as a framework held entirely within the fully surrounding bellows, the passengers are protected in all positions of the passageway and the associated railways cars. The support frame for the passageway may include support arms which carry the entire weight of the passageway and permit the use of vehicles couplers that cannot provide a support function. The passageway includes bridge members, one of which is attached to the threshold of the car and the other is attached to the threshold of the central portal and the two bridge elements cooperate by gliding on top of one another in the manner of fish scales.

  • Patent number: 4245734
Abstract: Flat, rectangular items are, in a contacting series, conveyed by an input conveyor to an output conveyor, on which the items are to be further advanced by pusher members such that those sides of the items which were transversely oriented with respect to the advancing direction on the input conveyor are parallel to the advancing direction on the output conveyor and further, that the items are spaced from one another on the output conveyor. The angle defined by the directions of advance on the two conveyors is less than 90.degree.. In the zone of reorientation each item is engaged by a pusher member from behind and is pushed off laterally from the input conveyor onto the output conveyor. At the same time, a moving reorienting member engages a frontal part of the item and, while a diametrically opposite item corner is in engagement with an abutment, the reorienting member moves the item into alignment with a guide oriented parallel to the direction of advance of the output conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4242949
Abstract: The apparatus includes a mandrel, about which blank sheets are successively folded to obtain packaging sleeves. On one face the mandrel has a recess which extends in the length dimension of the mandrel and in which a first pressing shoe is arranged for reciprocation parallel to the mandrel length. A face of the first pressing shoe complements a mandrel face to a continuous folder face. A second pressing shoe cooperates with the first pressing shoe in pressing and bonding together overlapping edge zones of the blank folded about the mandrel. The first and the second pressing shoes are--as they press the overlapping edge zones--movable as a unit together with the packaging sleeve relative to the mandrel parallel to its length dimension. In this manner the packaging sleeve is stripped from the mandrel, while the adhesive between the overlapping edge zones sets as the stripping takes place.
