Patent number: 11076992Abstract: Glaucoma patients suffer from increased intraocular pressure due to blocked fluid flow from the anterior chamber of the eye. Methods of the invention include inserting a probe into an eye of a subject having glaucoma, adjusting placement of the probe to a position transverse to Schlemm's canal in the eye, and applying a plurality of shots from an excimer laser source while the probe is in the transverse position, thereby treating glaucoma by creating a plurality of perforations in Schlemm's canal and/or the trabecular meshwork. By providing a laser probe at a position transverse to Schlemm's canal, energy from the laser is delivered to a greater amount of surface area than if the laser was arranged in a parallel or perpendicular position to Schlemm's canal, resulting in optimal formation of perforations. The perforations allow for drainage of fluid and increased outflow of aqueous humor in the eye.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2019Date of Patent: August 3, 2021Assignee: ELT Sight, Inc.Inventors: Johannes Junger, Markus Enders

Patent number: 11019991Abstract: The invention is a method of automatically adjusting a visual prosthesis electrode array to the neural characteristics of an individual patient. By recording electrically evoked responses to a predetermined input stimulus, one can alter that input stimulus to the needs of an individual patient. A minimum input stimulus is applied to a patient, followed by recording an electrically evoked response to the input stimulus. By gradually increasing stimulus levels, one can determine the minimum input that creates a neural response, thereby identifying the threshold stimulation level. One can further determine a maximum level by increasing stimulus until a predetermined maximum neural response is obtained.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2019Date of Patent: June 1, 2021Assignee: Second Sight Medical Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert J Greenberg, Gislin Dagnelie, Hendrik Christiaan Stronks
