  • Patent number: 4087211
Abstract: Driving unit for a vertical shaft-driven pump for pumping liquids from wells and deep bore holes through a riser pipe, the driving unit having a cross-shaped base, a top flange mounting a prime mover such as an electric motor, radially disposed supporting ribs and upwardly and radially inwardly inclined reinforcing webs. A bearing box is disposed on the central axis of the driving unit assembly between the ribs, a stuffing box, forming a part of the riser pipe being disposed in the cross-shaped base. The driving unit, without any alteration thereof, permits the use of a branch, liquid delivering pipe which extends laterally either below or above the cross-shaped base, and in the latter case, between any two adjacent arms of the cross-shaped base of the driving unit assembly.

  • Patent number: 4055073
Abstract: An improved contoured orifice configuration in the interior of a forming die for manufacturing elongated twist bodies of non-circular cross-section is described. A prescribed interior portion of the orifice in the die is formed with a cross-section corresponding to the cross-section of the body. The portion of the orifice upstream of the interior forming section is similar to the interior cross-section but increases along a spiral path that terminates at the upstream end surface of the die. A localized region of the orifice immediately upstream of the interior portion extends generally tangentially to the angle of twist of the twist body.

  • Patent number: 3986791
Abstract: A hydrodynamic pump comprising a casing in which a shaft having a plurality of spaced impellers is mounted. The casing is formed with diffuser channels interposed between successive impellers. Each diffuser channel comprises a curved section communicating with the outlet of one impeller and an axially-radial centripetal guide channel having a plurality of vanes located therein. Each of the vanes has a curved pressure face and a curved suction face. The angles of inclination of the curvature of the pressure and suction faces at the inlet end of the vanes are both within the range of 5.degree. to 30.degree.. The angle of inclination of curvature of the outlet with respect to the suction face of the vane is within one 100.degree. to 130.degree. and the angle of inclination of the curvature of the outlet with respect to the discharge pressure face is between 60.degree. to 90.degree..

  • Patent number: 3964841
Abstract: A multi-blade impeller for a hydrodynamic pump, fan or the like. Each blade has a curved pressure and a curved suction surface. The pressure surface has a curvature, the angle of inclination of which gradually increases from the leading edge to a first point and then decreases to the trailing edge. The suction surface has a curvature, the angle of inclination of which gradually decreases from the leading edge to a second point and thereafter increases toward the trailing edge. The first point is determined by the intersection of a logarithmic spiral from the trailing edge of the adjoining blade with the pressure surface, while the second point is determined by the intersection of a second logarithmic spiral from the leading edge of the other adjoining blade with the suction surface.
