  • Patent number: 5467546
Abstract: A tensioned fabric sign having a peripheral frame and a sheet of indicia bearing fabric stretched thereon. The margins of the fabric are retained in longitudinal frame recesses by tension clips having teeth in ratcheting engagement with closely spaced grooves formed within the frame recess. The clips are configured with a fabric grasping recess along the extent of the clip innermost of the recess and with teeth along the extent of the clip outermost of the recess. Tension in the fabric tightens the grasp of the clip on the fabric margin and urges the clip teeth into engagement with the frame recess grooves. An intermediate frame member having a pair of recesses for retaining the margins of two sheets of sign fabric is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4817317
Abstract: An illuminated sign structure is fabricated from a plurality of individual components. A main frame, box or housing includes top, bottom and side members which define an enclosure for a light source. The top member of the body defines a peripheral face flange which forms a semicircular hinge groove and an elongated, generally U-shaped drain channel. A face frame includes a top frame member having a horizontally extending hinge flange which terminates in a hinge bead. The bead is disposed within the hinge groove. A plurality of fasteners positioned through apertures in the hinge flange capture the hinge bead within the hinge groove. Either a rigid or flexible sheet signal face is supported on the face frame. A plurality of elongated tension rails disposed within tension channels defined by the face frame support the flexible sign face. Adjustable fasteners contact the tension rails and stretch the sign face over sign face lips defined by the face frame structure.

  • Patent number: 4802296
Abstract: An architectural sign system includes a pair of support columns fabricated as one-piece extrusions and defining an outer surface and an inner surface. An elongated channel opens through the inner surface of each column. The channel includes spaced, parallel sidewalls which define a plurality of opposed reveal grooves. A sign body is formed from a plurality of individual body members. A sign face retainer including a plurality of joined individual retainer members is secured to the sign body. A pair of elongated reveals are attached to opposed sides of the sign body. The reveals include outwardly extending reveal or slide flanges adapted to be disposed within opposed ones of the reveal grooves to provide for selectable reveal widths. The sign body members define elongated hinge grooves. The retainer face members define integral hinge beads dimensioned to be disposed within the grooves so that the sign face may be pivoted to the body to provide access to the interior thereof.
