Patent number: 6797099Abstract: A new method for the bonding of painted construction parts, in particular for the structural bonding of painted metals surfaces is described. In a first step of the inventive method, a carcase work adhesive is applied onto all parts of the oiled steel sheet on which later on, during assembly, bonding shall be performed. For the bonding, the lacquer layers on the carcase work adhesive are removed prior to the application of an assembly adhesive. Said method is simple and rugged. In comparison with the state of the art it is more economic, enables a highly structural and high strength joining with high torsional strength and a high ageing resistant compound quality.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2002Date of Patent: September 28, 2004Assignee: Sika Schweiz AGInventor: Peter W. Patent number: 6712995Abstract: The present invention provides methods and compositions for the reduction of the corrosion rate of already corroding steel reinforcements embedded in a hardened concrete structure as well as for the protective corrosion inhibition of uncorroded steel reinforcements embedded in a hardened concrete structure exposed to aggressive environments. The inventive new compositions employed for the novel method are essentially based on one or more amino- and/or hydroxyalkylamino compound(s), which are partially or completely neutralized with one or more inorganic acid(s) and/or derivatives thereof and/or aliphatic carboxylic- and/or aromatic carboxylic acid(s), one or more surfactant(s) and one or more water-based or water-thinnable water repellent agent(s) selected from the group of organosilicones.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2002Date of Patent: March 30, 2004Assignee: Sika Schweiz AGInventors: Beat Marazzani, Theodor A. Patent number: 6696124Abstract: An adhesive compound is described that is formed using a specific adhesive system. Due to the specific adhesive system the disconnecting of the adhesive compound is considerably eased, which, in particular, is of great benefit for the quick removal of plastic windows in case of emergency. The specific properties of the adhesive compound are based on its specific structure. In the middle of the compound between the substrates a specific parting layer is installed by which the two substrates can be disconnected easily. The parting layer preferably is an elastomer that has an extremely high tenacity and an elongation at rupture of 500% up to more than 1500% and that shows a good adherence to the assembly adhesive so that the removal can be performed by stretching the parting layer whereby it constricts and thereby peels off from the adhesive.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1999Date of Patent: February 24, 2004Assignee: Sika Schweiz AGInventors: Peter W. Patent number: 6605168Abstract: A method for fastening a flat strip lamella (10) to the surface of a building component (12). According to the inventive method, the face (14) of the flat strip lamella (10) is pressed against the surface of the building using an adhesive coating (16) consisting of a reaction resin applied in a paste-like consistency (16) and hardened to form an adhesive joint. The flat strip lamella (10) comprises a plurality of carbon fibers which are embedded in a binder matrix (28) and placed parallel to each other in a longitudinal direction. In order to increase the speed at which the adhesive coating hardens, the invention provides that an electrical current flows through least one part of the carbon fibers (26), heating the flat strip lamella (10) which in turn heats the adhesive coating (16).Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2000Date of Patent: August 12, 2003Assignee: Sika Schweiz AGInventors: Alexander Bleibler, Ernesto Schümperli, Werner Steiner

Patent number: 6602947Abstract: New primers for the improvement of the adhesion of cross-linking adhesive systems top polyolefinic thermoplastic materials such as e.g., polypropylene, polyethylene or EPDM are disclosed. Said primers, on the one hand are characterized by a simple method of production and good storage stability, on the other hand by good wetting and good homogeneous film forming characteristics, said film forming characteristics enabling a uniform thickness of the layer, leading to good adhesion qualities. Essential constituents of such primers are prepolymers based on hydrogenated polyisoprene diol.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2001Date of Patent: August 5, 2003Assignee: Sika Schweiz AGInventors: Peter W. Patent number: 6585407Abstract: The present invention concerns a static mixing element (1) having a mixing channel (2) of substantially tubular shape which is undivided in axial direction and swirl vanes (4a, 4A, 4b, 4B) which are arranged beside each other and axially one after another in said mixing channel (2) and which radially abut on the inner wall of said mixing channel (2) and are, in this area, interconnected with said inner wall. Even in case of mixing very viscous components resp. mixing components at high flow rates, in which cases the forces applied by the flowing components to the swirl vanes (4a, 4A, 4b, 4B) are quite huge, the correct axial position of the swirl vanes, in particular in the entry area of the mixing element (1), can be assured. Especially for long mixing elements (1), this leads, under the before mentioned conditions, to a considerable improvement in mixing quality.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2001Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Sika Schweiz AGInventor: Reto Koch

Patent number: 6548593Abstract: New thixotropic agents for the use in cross-linking systems, in particular one-component adhesives and sealants, are described. The thixotropic agents have the advantage that on the one hand they cause only a minor or no increase in viscosity, and on the other hand they do not cause any blead out or migration, respectively. The thixotropic agents of the present invention are based on urea derivatives that usually are present in a concentration of 5 to 50 wt.-%, in particular of 15 to 30 wt.-%, in a preferably reactive carrier material. After the cross-linking of the system, the reactive carrier material is incorporated, preferably into the structure matrix, or interwoven with said structure matrix, respectively, such that it can not diffuse out of the cured material.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2001Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: Sika Schweiz AGInventors: Peter W.
