Abstract: A closure for a container is provided with a top portion and a skirt depending from an outer periphery of the top portion. A generally circular rim extends downwards from the lower surface of the top portion. A liner is attached to the closure between an outer surface of the rim and an inner surface of the skirt. The liner is configured to provide a fluid tight seal for containers having varied neck dimensions and/or profiles. One or more projections extend into a space formed between the lower surface of the top portion, an inner surface of the skirt, and an outer surface of the rim, with the liner enveloping and being supported in the closure by the one or more projections.

Abstract: A closure includes a cap having a top wall and a skirt perpendicular to the top wall and extending downwardly from the top wall to a lower edge. The skirt includes an inner surface having a sealing formation. A band is concentric with and attached to the lower edge of the skirt by a plurality of frangible members. The band remains coupled to the body of the closure even after being removed from a container.

Abstract: A closure includes a hinged sealing element including a top wall and a first skirt. The first skirt has a sealing formation allowing engagement of a mating sealing formation of a bottle. A second skirt has an attachment formation engageable with a mating attachment formation of the bottle. A plurality of frangible members is attached to each of the skirts. A pair of hinge members is attached between the first and second skirts. A biasing member is attached to the first skirt between the hinge members and extending downwardly from the first skirt to interact with a neck portion of the bottle such that the sealing formation of the first skirt and the mating sealing formation of the bottle are biased toward each other.

Abstract: Described herein are one or more embodiments of closures with a child-resistant safety structure. A cap couples to a container neck, such as via threads. An overcap extends around the cap. A biasing element in the overcap biases the sidewalls of the overcap above the cap so that rotating the overcap does not transfer sufficient torque to the cap to also rotate the cap. When the overcap is pressed towards the container body, the sidewalls of the overcap interface with the cap, thereby providing a sufficient interface with sufficient friction to permit rotation of the overcap to translate into rotation of the cap.

Abstract: A composite closure which includes an improved sealing gasket material and shape. The Closure includes an end panel that is received in a circular plastic fitment having a central opening therein defined by an inwardly extending flange which over-lies in an outer periphery of the end panel and an integral skirt downwardly depending from the flange. The fitment includes an inwardly extending circumferential bead or bead segments which include a substantially non-deformable flat vertical surfaces that are substantially parallel to the axis of the closure and axially positioned to contact the radial outer-most edge of the end panel when the closure is fully applied to a container. The sealing gasket has the shape of an annulus with a particular cross-section and formed from a PVC free material.

Abstract: A closure includes a pivoting closure cap and a closure base configured to more easily align and securely pivot open without uncoupling. In various embodiments, the pivoting closure cap includes a pair of hinge assemblies including hinge pins pivotable between a closed position and an open position where the pivoting closure cap is opened for pouring. The closure base includes a pair of hinge pin receivers with a hinge pin sockets. The hinge pins located and rotatable within the sockets.

Abstract: A closure includes a flip-top structure and a tamper-evident band. The flip-top structure is restricted from being opened because it interfaces against an underlying protrusion, such as a thread of a container's neck. To open the flip-top structure the closure is rotated with respect to the container neck. When the closure is rotated with respect to the container neck, the closure is configured such that the tamper-evident band breaks before the flip-top structure is permitted to rotate to an open position. Thus, the closure prevents accessing the container's contents until after the tamper-evident band is broken even with the addition of a flip-top structure.

Abstract: A closure that remains coupled to a container after the upper portion of the closure has been rotatably removed from the container. The closure may include an attachment channel, which includes alternating segments of linear openings and frangible connections. The attachment channel may also include two hinge bridges that remain unbroken when one or more of the frangible connections are broken.

Abstract: A 2-piece closure includes a cap having a first skirt perpendicular to, and extending downwardly from, a first circular top wall. The first skirt includes a groove and a first anti-rotation formation. A tamper band attaches to the first skirt by frangible members. A cap cover includes a second skirt extending downwardly from a second circular top wall. The second circular top wall and the second skirt define an interior having a groove engagement formation and a second anti-rotation formation. The cap cover encloses a portion of the cap, with the groove engagement formation and the groove engaged. The first and second anti-rotation formations interact to restrict rotation of the cap cover relative to the cap.

Abstract: A closure having a liner is provided. The liner forms one or more venting recesses that facilitate relieving pressure from a container to which the closure is affixed. In embodiments the liner extends from an outer surface of an annular wall through an outer disc of the liner.

Abstract: Described is one or more embodiments of closures that include a pressure-relieving feature in a third plug. In one embodiment, the pressure-relieving feature is a gap within the third plug. In another embodiment, the pressure-relieving feature includes one or more recesses within inner surface of the third plug, thereby providing fluid communication between an outer surface of the second plug and the ambient air outside the closure.

Abstract: A closure including a base, a cutter and a cap is described which is configured to be attached to a container. Upon initial removal of the cap from the base, the cutter is configured to move downwards relative to the base so as to create an opening through the container. The portion of the container through which the cutter creates an opening may be formed of a film that is configured to be easily pierceable by the cutter. Methods of molding the closure components may include co-molding the cutter and base an in integral unit so as to facilitate and expedite assembly of the base, cutter and cap components to form the closure.
