  • Publication number: 20120226080
Abstract: Methanol is produced as a storable and transportable carbon-based energy carrier using at least two different methods. To produce a first methanol portion, water is electrolyzed, preferably using energy from renewable energy sources such as solar or wind power, to produce hydrogen. The hydrogen is then reacted with carbon dioxide to produce the first methanol portion. To produce a second methanol portion, methane is reacted with oxygen. A controller can advantageously be used to control the amount of chemicals in each reaction.

  • Publication number: 20120085710
Abstract: A green process for denitrification using a methanol-containing liquid generated by a catalytic reaction of a starting material formed by mixing carbon dioxide gas with hydrogen gas. This process can advantageously be used for denitrification in waste water treatment plants and, if the hydrogen is generated from water and/or methane derived from the waste water, the process can be self-contained and conducted completely at the waste water treatment plant.

  • Publication number: 20120041083
Abstract: A method for providing storable and transportable energy carriers (103, 104) is described. In one step, a transformation of silicon-dioxide-containing or metal-oxide-containing starting material (101) to silicon (103) or a metal occurs in a reduction process (105), wherein the primary energy for this reduction process (105) is provided from a renewable energy source. Then, a portion of the reaction products (102) from the reduction process (105) is applied in a process (106) for generating methanol, wherein (106) a synthesis gas (110) composed of carbon monoxide and hydrogen is used.

  • Patent number: 8043592
Abstract: In a series of reactions for power plant energy generation designed to make beneficial use of oil bearing sands, oil bearing shale and other starting materials containing silicon dioxide, the silicon dioxide starting materials are combined with a primary energy provider containing hydrocarbon to start a first reaction. During this first reaction, the silicon dioxide containing starting material is heated and crystalline silicon is produced. Then, the crystalline silicon is used in a second reaction which runs exothermically (i.e., releases heat). The heat produced from the second reaction is employed as a secondary energy to supplement the primary energy provider when heating the starting material in the first reaction and/or to supply at least one further reaction or series of reactions with the required energy, at the end of which a silicon compound is produced.

  • Publication number: 20080102013
Abstract: The crude oil reserves have a time limit which may be calculated. Before the automobile industry, aviation, the weapons industry, and space travel change their combustion engines over to silanes, for example, hydrogen peroxide will preferably be used as an energy carrier. The hydrogen peroxide may be obtained especially advantageously from a power plant process according to the present invention, in which hydrocarbons contaminated with sulfur are used for combustion. The present invention also relates to a novel system for transporting/conveying hydrogen peroxide.
