  • Publication number: 20060021137
Abstract: A locking mechanism comprises: a hub movable between a raised and a lowered position and a pair of structures, pivotally mounted to a common bracket. Sector gears engage each other rotate in unison. A locking assembly mounted upon the common bracket moves between a locked position preventing rotation of said structures and a released position allows rotating of said structures. At least two rods are pivotally joined to one of said structures. When the lock button is unlocked, and the hub is lifted, the rods are moved together to be substantially parallel, and when the hub is lowered, the gears rotate and the rods are pushed away from each other until the rods lie substantially in a common plane, enabling, the locking button to be moved to its locked position to prevent movement of the hub from the lowered position.

  • Patent number: 6934981
Abstract: A combination bassinet, bedside sleeper and changing table apparatus including a supporting frame having a rocking feature convertible through adjustable locking casters for easy rolling. A fabric member comprised of sidewalls and a skirt is draped over the frame. The apparatus may be placed against one side of an adult bed for easy access by a parent. The bedside sleeper is secured to the parents' bed with safety straps. One sidewall may be lowered to facilitate access to an infant by removal of a removably mounted sidewall/skirt supporting rod. The apparatus is adjustable in height to align the bedside sleeper with the parents' bed and when used as a changing table to accommodate for differences in the height of the parent. The bassinet is provided with a removable, adjustable hood for shielding light from the baby's eyes.

  • Publication number: 20050148278
Abstract: An amusement device advantageous for use with an infant crib or the like. An arm slideably engages a mounting bracket which is formed to rigidly attach to a top rail of the infant crib. The arm includes a drive motor configured to rotate a snap fitting which releasably secures a support member having one or more novelty items connected thereto. The arm also houses a speaker, a light array, a night light, a processor and an array of switches. A platform, serving as a support for an infant, has a vibration device mounted on it. The switches are selectively activated to control the processor to selectively operate the speaker, the light array, the drive motor, the night light, or the vibration motor. The processor controls the light array and speaker to synchronize pulsation of the light array with a melody played by the speaker. The various functions are preferably programmed to turn off after an adjustable time interval.

  • Publication number: 20050098969
Abstract: A support frame having a plurality of wheeled assemblies, mounted at corners of the support frame, each wheeled assembly including a substantially identical mechanism for extending and retracting a respective wheel assembly. Each mechanism has a locking member which includes a locking portion for selectively engaging locking apertures on a rotatable member which rotatably supports the wheel assembly. Each mechanism also includes a grip, spaced from the locking member, to facilitate rotation of the rotatable member and the respective wheel assembly between extended and retracted positions when the locking portion is disengaged from the locking apertures. When each wheel assembly is in an extended position, the support frame is able to roll on a suitable surface. Each wheel assembly is also capable of being retained in a retracted position housed within a recess in its associated housing.

  • Publication number: 20050028947
Abstract: A gate having a latching mechanism which requires two distinctly different unlatching movements which occur in distinctly different directions, but where both of these unlatching movements can be performed with the use of only one hand. In addition, timer/alarm capabilities are provided to emit an alert signal in situations where the gate has been opened and has not been reclosed within a given time interval after the gate was opened. The gate has a self-closing spring assembly arranged within a pivot assembly. All of the above capabilities are obtained through a greatly simplified design which is extremely rugged and provides highly reliable service.

  • Publication number: 20050005353
Abstract: A bassinet is releasably mounted upon a support frame which is capable of being selectively rocked or locked against rocking and having locking casters which are releasable to selectively rollingly move the support frame. The bassinet when released from the support frame may be rocked by rocking members provided along the underside. Anti-rocking assemblies provided at opposite ends of each rocking member may be moved to and locked in an anti-rocking position to prevent rocking. Mounting members are provided along the underside of the bassinet and preferably joined to the rocking members releasably locking the bassinet into place upon the support frame.

  • Patent number: 5146631
Abstract: A convertible bed assembly for providing a crib, toddler bed, or twin bed arrangement and alternatively a pair of twin or bunk beds. A pair of headboard and footboard assemblies each have separable upper and lower sections mounted together through coupling hardware to provide a crib assembly having one stationary crib side rail and one drop side rail. Motifs are releasably coupled to the top of the headboard and footboard assemblies through hardware. Any one of a variety of different motifs may be mounted upon the headboard and footboard assemblies. The crib is converted into a toddler bed by removing the lower sections of the headboard and footboard assemblies and replacing the fixed and drop sides of the crib with toddler safety rails joined to the upper sections and which are preferably stored beneath the crib posture board to provide convenient access at the time of conversion. The drop side and fixed side hardware is utilized in a unique fashion to mount each of the toddler safety rails.
