Abstract: A walk-behind vehicle in the form of a mower (11) is provided with an interlock mechanism (31, 68, 61 or 131, 158, 161) which prevents operation of a pull cable (51 or 151) to start an engine (21) when the mower power drive (22) is in a drive establishing condition.
Abstract: An elongated blade (21) for a rotary mower is fabricated from a nonrectangular blank (9) so that the lift portions (33, 34) formed on the trailing parts of the blade have radially outer peripheries (41, 42) which lie substantially on a circle (d) generated by the radially outer tips (46, 47) of the leading cutting edges (28, 29). This produces a blade with improved grass bagging characteristics due to greatly improved discharge of air entrained clippings.
Abstract: A mower hitch support (103) pivoted to the front of a tractor (11) has a connection (126, 128, 132) with an axle link (46) interconnecting front wheels (17, 18) mounted individually on the tractor frame (12) to cause an underslung mower to tilt laterally in response to the front wheels encountering undulations in the ground thereby substantially avoiding scalping of the lawn.
Abstract: The proper drive establishing force is indicated by the relative position of the end (91) of a control link (36) and the end (92) of a spring coil (49) of a coil spring (47) by which resilient clutch engaging force is transmitted to a transmission clutching mechanism (65,66) by a hand lever (26).
