Abstract: A surgical system for stabilizing a first bone segment to a second bone segment, the system comprising a plate having a first end and a second end, wherein the first end is configured to be secured to the first bone segment and the second end is configured to be secured to the second bone segment, and further wherein the plate has a structural integrity sufficient to stabilize the first bone segment to the second bone segment. Further embodiments comprise a supplemental plate for stabilizing a third bone segment to the second bone segment.

Abstract: A fixation augmentation device (FAD) comprising a generally tubular body having a first end and a second end, said body having an opening adapted to receive a screw therein; a collar attached to the first end of said body, said collar having a non-circular shape and having an opening which is aligned with the opening in said body; and at least one flange disposed at the second end of said body, wherein said at least one flange is extendable from said body in response to a screw being inserted into the hole of said body.
