Patent number: 8991020Abstract: A hand held felting device includes a body with one or more felting needles and a handle attached thereto for manually felting materials. A motor is provided in the body and is configured to selectively move a shaft reciprocally along the vertical axis upon receipt of power from a power source. The felting needle(s) are mounted to the shaft in the body and thus are configured to move continuously in a reciprocal motion when activated by the motor to felt two or more materials together as a user manually moves the device relative to two or more materials. A safety switch is included with the device in order to selectively activate the motor to move the needle(s). A guard may be operatively associated with the switch to prevent access to the needle(s) and reduce user injury. The needle(s) can be replaced as needed.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2012Date of Patent: March 31, 2015Assignee: Simplicity Pattern Co. Inc.Inventor: David Sasur

Patent number: 8596096Abstract: A knitting loom that includes a base structure with pin receiving openings for receiving knitting pegs. Each opening has a through hole that allows access to a bottom portion of a knitting peg inserted therein. The knitting peg is adapted to hinder its removal from the pin receiving opening and base structure via a detent or lock provided adjacent its bottom portion. A slot can be provided in the bottom of the loom, which assists in removal of a broken peg from within an opening and allows the loom to be reusable.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2012Date of Patent: December 3, 2013Assignee: Simplicity Pattern Co., Inc.Inventors: Warren Russell, David Sasur, Kenneth Hatcher

Patent number: 8567708Abstract: Disclosed is a portable device for winding thread around a bobbin from a spool of thread. The device includes a height adjustable thread holder configured to receive the spool of thread, a thread guide bar pivotable between a stored position and an operative position, and an adjustable tension feed device for applying tension to the thread during winding. The device also includes a spindle slot configured to receive one of a plurality of rotatable spindles that are interchangeable within the spindle slot so that different corresponding spindles can be used with the device. Also, a speed control knob for adjusting a speed at which the spindle rotates and thus at which thread is wound around the bobbin from the spool of thread, a fill knob for adjusting the amount of thread to be wound on the bobbin, and an automatic shut off mechanism are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2011Date of Patent: October 29, 2013Assignee: Simplicity Pattern Co. Patent number: 8402794Abstract: Disclosed is a convertible knitting loom that includes a first body and a second body that are connected via a hinge so that the bodies can rotate relative to each other and used in more than one configuration. Each body includes knitting pegs for weaving and knitting yarn. The first and second bodies are configured to be provided in at least first (closed) configuration such that the first body and the second body are parallel to each other and a second (open, linear) configuration such that the bodies are substantially linearly aligned. A removable fastener or lock pin can be used to lock the bodies of the loom in either the first or second configuration.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2011Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignee: Simplicity Pattern Co. Patent number: 4042126Abstract: Pattern envelopes or like flat articles retained in stack configuration by elements engaging marginal portions of the lead article are withdrawn substantially in such flat condition by displacing the lead article in its entirety in a manner spacing at least one lead article marginal portion from its associated retaining element and then displacing the same outwardly of the stack spacedly from the retaining element. Further outward displacement of the withdrawn marginal portion effects sequential withdrawal of the other marginal portion from the stack.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1976Date of Patent: August 16, 1977Assignee: Simplicity Pattern Co.
