Abstract: A device and method for increasing the rate of the firing cycle of a semi-automatic firearm includes a base that is adapted to support any one of a variety of semi-automatic firearms. The base includes a trigger extension with a grip, a slide mount, and a slide housed within the slide mount. At least the receiver, barrel, and trigger assembly of the firearm are secured to the base so that they may move as a single unit upon the base between a rearward position upon discharge of the firearm and a forward position. A biasing means continuously biases the receiver, barrel, and trigger assembly upon the base toward the forward position to effect successive discharges of the firearm.
Abstract: A system for forming gas hydrates includes a reactor adapted to receive a hydrate-forming fluid and a reaction fluid and react the hydrate-forming and reaction fluids within a reverse micellar solution to form gas hydrate particles; and a gas hydrate removal system coupled to the reactor, the gas hydrate removal system adapted to receive the gas hydrate particles within the reverse micellar solution and transport the gas hydrate particles away from the reactor. The gas hydrate removal system is adapted to transport gas hydrate particles away from the reactor concurrently with the formation of gas hydrate particles within the reactor.
Abstract: An illumination system for videoprojectors has a light beam, a device for decomposing the light beam into a plurality of monochromatic components, a plurality of DMD devices each of which reflects one of the monochromatic components, and a plurality of devices adapted to send the monochromatic components towards the plurality of DMD devices. A second device separate from the first device recomposes the monochromatic components coming from the DMD devices into a light beam to be sent to a projection lens.
Abstract: Accessories for firearms. They are designed to reduce the recoil felt by the shooter when a firearm is discharged. The accessories meet this goal by modifying the decay pattern of vibrations set up in the stock when the firearm is discharged. Kick may be further reduced by elastic compression and also by pneumatic compression of air in sealed pockets formed in and by accessory components.

Abstract: Abstract Focusing system of the light beam for a videoprojector or comprising at least an image microforming device DMD (Digital Micromirror Device); the main feature of the system consisting in that it comprises at least an aspheric lens associated to at least an achromatic doublet. This configuration allows a substantial reduction of chromatic aberration, spherical aberration, curvature of field and the distortions, obtaining a more homogeneous illumination of the image microforming device.
Abstract: A filter for use in a waste water discharge system including a first channel defining a receptacle for a filter and a second channel connected generally orthogonally to the first channel providing an outlet from the filter receptacle. The filter has an axial support of a pre-selected length, a plurality of bristles fixed to the axial support extending radially outward to define an outer margin. The outer margin of the bristles, at some portions along the pre-selected length, are at least equal to an inside dimension of the channel defining the receptacle. A handle is fixed to the axial support facilitating the placement and withdrawal of the filter element in the filter receptacle. A shield member is provided that is generally conformable to the inside surface of the filter receptacle. The shield member has a length dimension sufficient to cover the outlet leading to the second channel for blocking any flow of waste water into the second channel during replacement of the filter element.
Abstract: Systems and methods for training students in a tripartite curriculum of ground vehicle learning are provided. The tripartite curriculum includes computer based testing, training on a simulator, and instructor-led classroom training. Such systems may be referred to as integrated learning systems (ILS).

Abstract: Illumination system for a videoprojector, which comprises a lighting lamp (1) emitting a light beam on a first optical axis (AB) and a projection lens (10) crossed by said light beam along a second optical axis (DE), said first optical axis (AB) and second optical axis (DE) not being substantially parallel to each other and respectively pertaining to a first plane (P1) and second plane (P2), said light beam being guided along an optical path by optic deflecting means (6; 11, 11′), which shift it from the first plane (P1) to the second plane (P2) and optic handling means (7, 8, 97, 8, 9; 12, 9′, 9, 9′″) shifting it from the first optical axis (AB) to the second optical axis (DE), said optic handling means (7, 8, 9; 7, 8, 9, 12, 9′, 9, 9′″) comprising an image forming device (9). According to the invention the geometric projection of the optical path on the first plane (P1) comprises a closed path (BB′CDX).
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling dispensing of medical gases, comprising a unit for supplying medical gas, connected hermetically by way of a tube to a gas dispenser connected to a patient, a detector located along the tube for detecting correct respiration of the patient with at least one pressure sensor that detects cyclic pressure increases inside the dispenser caused by patient expirations, binary output signals being conveyed by the sensor to the detector which compares periodicity of the signals with a reference physiological periodicity, and an alarm indicator controlled by the detector and activated if the periodicity does not occur.
Abstract: A menu driven reprogrammable drug pump is provided with a memory, such as flash memory, a display, a keyboard, and a communications port to allow a generic pump to be programmed with a desired pump application (therapy) program and patient specific settings. Programming and data transfer with another pump or a computer to and from the patient pump is by the communications port that allows local and/or remote communications with the pump. Flash memory stores the pump application program during use. Patient safety is provided by a cassette identification system, an occlusion detection system, and a latch/lock detection system. Automated testing of the pump is by a closed loop testing system.

Abstract: A needle protection device for a vial has a collar at the base of which a number of finger grippers extend. The collar is placed about the hub of a vial and pushed therealong until the gripper fingers snap over the bottom surface of the needle hub so as to fixedly couple the collar to the needle hub of the vial. Flexibly extending from the collar is a housing that is pivotable to a position in alignment along the longitudinal axis of the vial for enveloping the needle, to thereby prevent the needle from being exposed to the environment. A hook integrated to the inside of the housing ensures that the needle and the housing could no longer move relative to each other once the hook snaps over and traps the needle, as the housing is pivoted to its alignment position. For those vials that have a needle hub that extends smoothly from the vial, a second embodiment of the instant invention has, in place of the collar, a base that has two extending arms with coacting ends.
Abstract: A method for testing hearing ability by which a patient can test his hearing ability any time and any place without spending time on visiting the hospital and making reservation and preparing expensive equipments for a self-test, is provided. When the method for testing the hearing ability is selected by a tested person connected by the Internet, sounds having different volumes of a predetermined frequency bandwidth are sequentially reproduced according to the selected hearing ability testing method. The average threshold value and the hearing hardness grade of the tested person are calculated and displayed according to the response of the tested person for the reproduced sounds. A hearing ability test is divided into a test in a low band, a test in a conversation band, and a test in a high band, respectively. The hearing ability test in the conversation band is divided into a continuous test and a test performed, while looking at a screen.
