Patent number: 11774961Abstract: A mobile drive apparatus (1001) for use at a transport hub, having: a drive means configured to drive the apparatus (1001) from a first location (401) to a second location (402) within the hub; a wireless communication module configured to form a wireless communications link with a resource management system (301), and receive command instructions from the resource management system (301); and a control means coupled to the drive means and coupled to the wireless communication module. The control means is configured to control the drive means to move the apparatus (1001) from a first location (401) to a second location (402) within the transport hub, in response to receiving a command instruction from the resource management system (301) via the wireless communication module.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2018Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Assignee: SITA Information Networking Computing USA, Inc.Inventors: Kevin O'Sullivan, Stephane Cheikh, Rico Andreas Barandun, Andrew Eric Malinofsky

Patent number: 11189155Abstract: A system and method for tracking an article is described. The article may be baggage passing through an airport terminal or another venue. The system comprises a beacon associated with a baggage article, a plurality of relaying bridges, and a tracking service. Short-range radio signals including a beacon identifier and a beacon transmission power are emitted by the beacon associated with a baggage article and detected by a plurality of relaying bridges. The relaying bridges calculate a received signal strength indicator (RSSI), convert the short-range radio signal to a relay signal and transmit the relay signal including a unique relaying bridge identifier and RSSI information via a network. The tracking service receives data from the relay signal, attaches a time stamp to the received data, stores the time-stamped data, and determines from the stored data the time when the article arrives at a point of interest.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2019Date of Patent: November 30, 2021Assignee: SITA Information Networking Computing USA, Inc.Inventor: Andrew Eric Malinofsky

Patent number: 10685311Abstract: In an airport baggage handling system bag information, flight information and airport topology information are provided to a central processor which determines a path for the bag through the handling system. The bag is scanned at various points along the path and the scan time is compared with a predetermined arrival time for the bag at the scan point. A bag is marked at risk if it arrives at a scan point after the predetermined time and the system may suggest an alternative handling path for the bag if it is determined that the risk of the bag not making an outbound flight is too high.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2019Date of Patent: June 16, 2020Assignee: SITA Information Networking Computing USA, Inc.Inventors: Nicholas John Gates, Manish Limaye, Olivier Pierre Poulard, Emad Eldeen Muhanna, Daniel Edmond Chetrit, Aseem Dayal, Pravin Naicker, Maria Patricia Maya

Patent number: 10129703Abstract: A system for determining a user's path is described. The system comprises a location server arranged to receive location data of a communication device associated with the user, the location data defining the detected position of the communication device at a number of different points in time, the location server further arranged to receive sequence data associated with the location data indicative of the order in which the location data was determined; path determining means for determining the user's path passing through points defined by the received location data and the associated sequence data; and a comparator for comparing the determined path of the user with one or more predetermined user paths; wherein the location server processes the received location data depending upon the result of the comparison and corrects the determined user path with the processed location data.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2016Date of Patent: November 13, 2018Assignee: SITA INFORMATION NETWORKING COMPUTING USA, INC.Inventors: Kevin O'Sullivan, Stephane Cheikh
