  • Patent number: 7431749
Abstract: Disclosed is a catalytic filter for removing soot particulates from diesel engine exhaust, which is comprised of monolithic oxidation catalyst upstream of the catalytic filter, which effectively oxidize gaseous pollutants and volatile organic fractions, and a catalyzed wall-flow filter downstream serving to low temperature combustion of soot particulates collected on the filter. Also, the preparation method of the catalytic filter is provided, including the colloidal mixture solution of platinum group metal salts and other metal salts with a water-soluble polymer and a reducing agent, which is then impregnated on a catalyst support, followed by calcining at high temperatures. In the present invention, use of the catalytic filter provides effective means of abating diesel exhaust pollutant emissions, that is, particulate matter (PM) and gaseous pollutants (HC, CO, NOx).

Abstract: A high quality asphalt containing pitch is generated as a by-product in a solvent deasphalting process and a method of preparing the same. The pitch is obtained by subjecting a mixture comprising a first vacuum residue and a first petroleum distillate, which is lighter than the vacuum residue and has high amounts of aromatic and resin, to solvent deasphalting. The operation conditions of the solvent deasphalting process are appropriately controlled, such that aromatic and resin components contained in the atmospheric residue and vacuum residue can be distributed to the pitch, and as well, a saturate can be removed.

  • Publication number: 20080197051
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a desulfurizing agent for removing organic sulfur compounds, a preparation method thereof, and a method for removing organic sulfur compounds using the same. The desulfurizing agent consists of a copper-zinc-aluminum complex free of alkaline metal, with a large surface area. When being contacted with organic sulfur compounds, such as t-butylmercaptan, tetrahydrothiophene, dimethylsulfide, etc., the desulfurizing agent exhibits excellent desulfurization ability and is not de-graded especially at high temperatures as high as 150˜350° C.

  • Publication number: 20080193838
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a case which protects a plurality of flexible lithium polymer unit cells, has a compact structure to reduce volume, has a simple assembly process, and minimizes heat generated during a high-power charging or discharging operation. The battery case includes a pouch support frame to support a pouch of a unit cell having the pouch and electrode terminals. A heat radiating part having the shape of a shelf is provided on a surface of the pouch support frame, and defines a space for dispersing heat generated from the pouch. A terminal support having the shape of a wall is provided on an edge of the heat radiating part, thus supporting the electrode terminals of the unit cell.

  • Publication number: 20080187828
Abstract: A lithium secondary battery includes an electrode assembly having at least one tab which projects from one side of the electrode assembly, an external finishing material surrounding and sealing the tab except a distal end portion thereof and the electrode assembly, and polymer films interposed between the external finishing material and the tab to improve adhesion therebetween. When the tab has a thickness no less than a predetermined thickness, the tab is formed to have a sectional shape which ensures that an inside angle defined by one of upper and lower surfaces of the tab and an adjacent side surface of the tab becomes an obtuse angle, and the polymer films are formed to have protuberances on the inner surfaces thereof, so as to improve bondability between the tab and the polymer films.

  • Publication number: 20080160400
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a structure of layering unit cells for a lithium polymer battery, in which electrode terminals are provided on surfaces of the respective unit cells for the lithium polymer battery, and are alternately layered, thus allowing the unit cells to be connected in series through only a layering operation without an additional connecting device. The battery system includes first and second unit cells each having a pouch and anode and cathode terminals which are connected to a surface of the pouch and are oppositely bent in upward and downward directions. In this case, the cathode terminal of the second unit cell is directly connected to the anode terminal of the first unit cell.
