Abstract: An apparatus having at least one paw hingedly attached to a compartment side of a lid configured for covering a hatch of a compartment. At least one catch is positioned on a wall of said hatch for engagingly receiving the at least one paw. A spring is positioned for urging engagement of the paw with the catch. The paw includes an angled portion which, upon closing of the lid, rotates the paw to allow the lid to be closed over the hatch and the paw to then engage the catch. A user may rotate the paw to disengage the paw from the catch, to thereby open the lid.
Abstract: A cover for a hatch includes a rigid main body member and a sealing member secured to the main body member. The sealing member is an expanded polyethylene foam; and it extends across the hatch and engages the portion of the structural member or deck adjacent the hatch. The sealing member, thus, seals the hatch and insulates the compartment below the hatch. It acts as a gasket seal for the cover, and provides sound dampening, corrosion protection, and other advantages.
Abstract: A boat hull is provided with a unique V-shaped bottom surface to increase lift, to reduce drag, and to maximize speed. The deadrise angle of the V-shaped bottom increases progressively from the stern to a point forward of the stern at a rate of 2.degree. to 6.degree. for each four feet of keel length, i.e., at the rate of about 1/2.degree. to 11/2.degree. per foot of keel length. The bottom surface between the stern and the forward point has a generally convex transverse cross section. The keel is substantially straight from the stern to the forward point and then curves upwardly to the bow.
