Patent number: 5002405Abstract: A bearing is mounted in a bearing housing which contains lubricating oil. The bearing includes radially spaced outer and inner rings which confine bearing rollers therebetween. A radially outer surface of the outer ring contains a circular groove in which a strip of lubricant-conducting material is situated. A lower portion of the strip communicates with lubricant, whereby the strip conducts lubricant upwardly by capillary action to a radial passage formed through the outer ring at an upper location thereof. The lubricant gravitates through that passage to the space in which the bearing rollers are disposed. The radially outward facing side of the groove is closed-off by an inner surface of the housing to confine the lubricant within the groove.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1990Date of Patent: March 26, 1991Assignee: SKF Mekanprodukter ABInventor: Stig Persson

Patent number: 4978236Abstract: A bearing housing (3) supports a bearing (2) for a shaft (1). The bearing is mounted on the shaft with a clamping sleeve (4) on which are provided two flanges (5, 6) on opposite sides of the bearing. The flanges form part of mounting and dismounting means for the bearing. Sealing members (12, 13) are provided between the flanges (5, 6) and the housing (3) radially outside the flanges. Means (7) are provided for displacement of the bearing (2) axially on the clamping sleeve (4) when mounting and dismounting the bearing. One of the sealing members (12) is arranged to axially bridge a slot (10) between the flange (5) and a washer (8) associated with the bearing (2).Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1990Date of Patent: December 18, 1990Assignee: SKF Mekanprodukter ABInventor: Sture Ostling

Patent number: 4886144Abstract: An apparatus for automatic lubrication of bearings which apparatus incorporates a feeding device (2, 3) for grease and a valve member (7) intended to be connected to a bearing housing. In the valve member (4) is provided at a heat activated member (5) for sensing the bearing housing temperature and which, when a predetermined activation temperature is exceeded, is arranged to expand and to cause a restriction of the lubricant feed.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1988Date of Patent: December 12, 1989Assignee: SKF Mekanprodukter ABInventor: Ulf Wengeler

Patent number: 4697937Abstract: A bearing housing (3) encloses a bearing (2) for a shaft (1). The bearing is mounted on the shaft by a clamping sleeve (4) with a longitudinal slit and two flanges (5, 6) one on each side of the bearing. The flanges, which are axially fixed on the sleeve, are parts of mounting and dismounting means for a bearing. The bearing space is sealed by sealing members which surround the flanges and have lips (12, 13) contacting the outer surfaces of said flanges. Resilient sealing rings (10, 11) are arranged between the flanges and the inner ring of the bearing. The sealing arrangement allows the use of a slitted clamping sleeve and axial displacement of the bearing on the shaft (1) during mounting.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1986Date of Patent: October 6, 1987Assignee: SKF Mekanprodukter ABInventors: Ove Karlsson, Sture stling, Rune Adolfsson

Patent number: 4464140Abstract: The invention refers to a device for torque transmitting interconnection of two shafts (1, 2) or the like. The shafts are at their opposite ends provided with flanges formed as clamping sleeves incorporating inner and outer sleeves (7 and 6 respectively), the inner sleeve of which is clamped against the shaft at a relative axial displacement of the sleeves. Power transmission takes place via a number of axial pegs (5) which extend between recesses in each flange. A part of each recess is situated in each of the inner and outer sleeves whereby a relative rotation of the sleeves is prevented by the pegs, and the resistance of the inner sleeve against clamping is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1982Date of Patent: August 7, 1984Assignee: SKF Mekanprodukter ABInventor: Bengt Lundgren
