  • Patent number: 10001461
Abstract: A crystal self-test circuit is used to self-test either an acoustic emission crystal or a vibration crystal installed onto one of a bearing, a bearing housing, and a machine. A crystal self-test circuit includes a multiplexer IC, which toggles between a pulse injection configuration and a signal collection configuration. In the pulse injection configuration, the multiplexer IC provides signal communication between a crystal self-test input and the sensing emission crystal. In the signal collection configuration, the multiplexer IC provides signal communication between the sensing emission crystal and a signal analyzer. In operation, the multiplexer IC applies a waveform (preferably a square wave) to the sensing emission crystal over a predetermined time period. The multiplexer IC then toggles to collect the output waveform from the sensing emission crystal and forwards the output waveform to the signal analyzer. The output signal can be amplified by a signal amplifier.

  • Patent number: 9989439
Abstract: Method for detecting bearing defect severity based on bearing rotation speed and at least one data sample of sensor data obtained to measure vibrations of a bearing ring is provided. The method includes converting the data sample from time domain to frequency domain to obtain a signal frequency spectrum; determining a defect center frequency of the bearing using the rotation speed; and identifying a predetermined number of frequency peaks of the signal frequency spectrum. A total vibration energy in an overall frequency band including the predetermined number of frequency peaks is first determined; next, for each of the frequency peaks, a peak energy as a spectral energy of signal components giving rise to the frequency peaks is determined; calculating a bearing defect spectral energy using the peak energies; and finally a ratio of the bearing defect spectral energy and a total vibration energy to assess a defect severity is obtained.

  • Patent number: 9989097
Abstract: The invention relates to a bearing cage including a bearing cage main body made of a polymer material and having pockets for receiving at least one row of rolling elements of a bearing. The cage is provided with a passive resonant circuit including an antenna coil attached to the cage main body. It is proposed that the antenna coil is formed as a conductive layer directly attached to the cage material of the bearing cage main body and is designed so as to have a breaking point less than or equal to a breaking point of the cage material. Thus, a rupture in the cage main body ruptures the antenna coil, changing the resonance behavior of the passive resonant circuit.
