  • Patent number: 9103369
Abstract: A bearing assembly includes two tapered roller bearings having inner and outer rings and tapered rollers therebetween. The inner rings are mounted to a first machine part, and the outer rings are mounted on an adapter sleeve on a second machine part. The adapter sleeve has a first end axially fixed relative to the second machine part and a second end axially spaced from an axial stop of the second machine part by an axial gap. At a non-operating temperature, such as 20° C., the gap has a width of about 30 ?m to 250 ?m, and at an operating temperature of over 50° C. the gap disappears and the second end contacts the axial stop. The width of the gap at the non-operating temperature is selected to produce a predetermined preload on the bearing assembly at the operating temperature.

  • Patent number: 9086095
Abstract: A flanged bearing ring is formed of two different materials joined together as a single piece, specifically a radially inner annular insert and a flanged, radially outer lightweight body formed about the insert. The insert has one or more inner raceways and is formed of a hard material, such as bearing steel. The outer body is made of a lightweight material, such as aluminum alloy, with a higher thermal expansion coefficient higher than that of the hard material from which the inner insert is formed. A radial projection formed on the outer body extends into a radial recess or groove of the insert. • Patent number: 9080926
Abstract: A life-cycle prognosis is created of a rolling-element bearing. As from manufacturing of the bearing and during the bearing's life-cycle that may include periods of the bearing's non-use, service life data is obtained indicative of one or more factors that occur during the life-cycle and that affect the length of the life-cycle. The service life data is obtained together with identification data that is representative of a machine-readable identifier, applied to the bearing at manufacturing. The identifier serves to uniquely identify the bearing throughout its life. The identification data is used for identifying in a database a history log of the bearing. The service life data is accumulated in the history log of the bearing as from the manufacturing. The history log is used with a specific mathematical life-cycle model for creating an update of the life-cycle prognosis.
