  • Patent number: 6939051
Abstract: A bearing arrangement supporting a sealing bellows around a shaft to permit axial and angular motion includes inner and outer bearing sleeves, and a rolling bearing having an inner race ring fitted around the inner sleeve with one end face engaging a shoulder in the inner sleeve. A sealing device is provided in a space between the inner and outer sleeves. A flexible elongated bellows for enclosing a portion of the shaft is sealingly connected at one end to the outer surface of the outer sleeve and is attachable at its opposite end to a fitting of a machine member from which the shaft projects. The outer sleeve is a sheet metal sleeve provided with an inwardly bent flange portion forming an engagement surface for the opposite side face of the rolling bearing. The bellows is fixedly attachable to the outer surface of the outer sleeve by bonding through vulcanization.

  • Patent number: 6302404
Abstract: A sealing device primarily for sealing off a slit-shaped space between two radially extending surfaces arranged about a shaft and axially displaceable relative to each other along the shaft includes a first sleeve-shaped seal part and an elastically resilient sealing body. The first sleeve-shaped part forms together with the shaft an axially open space facing the cooperating surface. The elastically, resilient sealing body has in an uncompressed state a cross-sectional area and/or a shape deviating from the area and/or shape of the axially open space. The sealing body when subjected to axial forces causing the sealing body surface and the cooperating surface to abut each other is compressed sealingly between the axial space and the cooperating surface, thereby creating a sealing engagement against the entrance of the slit-shaped space and against the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6062734
Abstract: A bearing seal includes an annular body in sealing contact with the outer race of a bearing. The annular body includes a sealing resilient annular member fitted on a shield portion and projecting from the shield portion to contact in a sliding and sealing manner a sealing surface spaced apart from the bearing. The annular body is attachable to the outer race ring of the bearing by way of an annular bulge provided on the resilient member. The annular bulge is attachable by snap-action in a circumferential groove in the inner surface of the outer race ring of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 5586826
Abstract: A roller bearing includes an inner raceway member having an inner raceway surface and an outer raceway member having an outer raceway surface. The inner and outer raceway surfaces are spaced apart from one another to define an annular space and a plurality of rolling elements are disposed in the annular space for engaging the inner and outer raceway surfaces as the rolling elements roll in a rolling direction. During operation of the roller bearing, friction forces arise at regions of the inner and outer raceway surfaces that give rise to positive skew moments. Those regions of the raceway surfaces are designed to have greater frictional characteristics than those regions of the inner and outer raceway surfaces where negative skew moment producing friction forces arise. In that way, the skew of the roller can be controlled to be not excessively negative.
