Abstract: A system for and method of providing secure sign-in on a touch screen device that comprises an electronic device in accordance with exemplary embodiments may include receiving, from a user, password data in a first input format, determining that the password data is associated with a valid user by at least comparing the first input format of the password data to a second input format and comparing the password data to valid character element data, wherein the second input format is derived in accordance with one or more password format rules, and providing the valid user with access to one or more functions of the touch screen device.

Abstract: A system and method for automatic continuation marks in an electronic publication is disclosed. The method may include using a computer processor, identifying a first part of electronic content that can be rendered in an text box on a display of an electronic device; using the computer processor, calculating a position for a continuation marker to be displayed in the electronic content; using the computer processor, linking the continuation mark to a second part of the electronic content; and using the computer processor, automatically inserting the continuation mark in the electronic content following the first part of the electronic content. Abstract: A system for and method of providing enhanced copy protection on a reader device in accordance with exemplary embodiments may include detecting orientation data that indicates an orientation of a display screen of the reader device with reference to a horizontal surface, processing the orientation data to determine whether the orientation of the display screen of the reader device is such that the display screen is facing and aligned with the horizontal surface, and restricting display of electronic content on the display screen of the reader device based on a determination that the display screen is facing and aligned with the horizontal surface.

Abstract: An electronic device for rendering advertisements includes a processor; a network interface; a low-power display; and an executable computer program that is tangibly embodied on a computer readable medium. The computer code may: receive an indication that the electronic device is going to be put in a reduced power state; render a first advertisement on the low-power display before entering the reduced power state; and enter the reduced power state. The first advertisement may remain visible on the low-power display after the device enters the reduced power state. The low-power display may be an electrophoretic display. A method for rendering advertisements on an electronic device having a low-power display may include receiving an indication that the electronic device is going to be put in a reduced power state; rendering a first advertisement on the low-power display; and entering the reduced power state. The low-power display may be an electrophoretic display.
