Patent number: 8787703Abstract: A procedure for structuring and storing data representing the form of an object that can be represented by a set of interpolation points, wherein the data representing an object is stored in a hierarchy having at least two levels, wherein a subset of the data representing the object is saved at each level and wherein the data is assigned to the levels by selecting at least two anchor points, whose data is saved in the uppermost hierarchical level, from the set of interpolation points and by consecutively selecting, from the interpolation points remaining in the set, the interpolation point with the largest distance from a line through the interpolation points and anchor points that have already been assigned to levels.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2012Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Assignee: skobbler GmbHInventors: Philipp Kandal, Stefan Karschti

Publication number: 20140095059Abstract: A method for determining road traffic characteristics utilizing movement data of vehicles which have communication devices trackable by radio positioning. The data includes time and place data regarding acceleration and braking maneuvers recorded by the communication devices. Chronological progression of acceleration and braking maneuvers is evaluated with respect to the occurrence of a predetermined characteristic pattern for a specific traffic characteristic. When such a pattern is detected and is linked to the location at which the maneuvers took place, this location is determined to be the location of the traffic characteristic. A report regarding the characteristic and its location is submitted to a central data collection point. In the central data collection point, the reports are evaluated.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2013Publication date: April 3, 2014Applicant: Skobbler GmbHInventor: Philipp Kandal

Patent number: 8655587Abstract: A procedure for determining the probability of finding a parking place within a certain period of time on a pre-set stretch of road of an area with a multiplicity of stretches of road. With this procedure, motion profiles are detected and statistically evaluated of users of radiolocation-aided, especially satellite-aided, navigation aids in the area. For each user a “parking place found” event is determined; the stretch of road in which the “parking place found” event occurred is detected; and the travel time is detected which the user expended in each of the stretches of the road until the “parking place found” event occurred. From the data thus acquired for a multiplicity of users, a probability is determined of finding a parking place within the set time span on the stretch of the road.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2013Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignee: skobbler GmbHInventor: Philipp Kandal

Publication number: 20130204519Abstract: A system and method for reducing the number of irrelevant warnings regarding traffic-related features for a non-navigation-guided trip including a position-determining device to determine a position of the vehicle from received signals; a storage device for storing map data representing courses of the roads; a route-calculating device for calculating a route along the courses of the roads; a receiver for receiving information regarding the nature and position of a traffic-related feature; a device for determining relevance of the information received based on whether an aerial distance of the position of the traffic-related feature from the vehicle falls within a first predetermined value; the aerial distance along a possible route falls within a second predetermined value and the number of turning maneuvers required falls within a predetermined maximum number; and a warning device for issuing a warning when these criteria are recognized as having been met in the relevance determining device.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2013Publication date: August 8, 2013Applicant: SKOBBLER GMBHInventor: SKOBBLER GMBH
