The recoil mechanism may be a recoil spring defining a spring axis. The spring axis may be parallel to the bore axis. The recoil spring may be a helical shape defining a bore receiving a guide rod. The serrations are in groups of serrations separated by one or more unserrated portions of the slide. The serrations being configured to maximize the thickness of the slide portion in the rail portion.
