    Abstract: The surface of an aluminum alloy high-temperature processed article containing Mg is heated at a high temperature of 200° C. or above, thereafter the surface is etched with an aqueous solution containing a chelating agent, and then at least one surface treatment selected from hydration oxidation treatment, coating type chromating, coating, anodizing, and alternating current electrolysis in an aqueous alkali solution is further carried out. This method can provide a surface-treated aluminum alloy high-temperature processed article having superior anticorrosion and adhesion of coatings and a good surface appearance, and is effective as a pretreatment for further surface treatment.

    Abstract: A system for heat treating a rolled strip of Al--Mg--Si alloy includes a primary heating zone for solution treating the strip at 480.degree. C. or higher, a first cooling zone for cooling the strip at a rate of at least 100.degree. C./min. to 100.degree. C. or lower, a secondary heating zone for heating the strip to 120.degree.-250.degree. C. within 10 minutes for thereby adjusting a proof stress of 70-120 N/mm.sup.2 directly or after holding for 10 minutes or less, a coiler for winding the strip into a coil at 140.degree. C. or lower, and a unit for holding the coil at 50.degree.-140.degree. C. for at least 3 hours. The process from solution treatment to winding is continuous as well as from winding to stabilizing treatment. The strip has improved formability and bake hardenability and a minimized secular change at room temperature.

    Abstract: An aluminum material is surface-treated with an aqueous solution containing 0.005 mol/lit. or more of a chelating agent and 5 g/lit. or more of an organic amine and having 100 ppm or less of phosphoric acid radical ion concentration and 500 ppm or less of sulfuric acid radical ion concentration, until its surface has a color tone (S) of:S=(X.sup.2 +(3.388Z-3Y.sup.2).sup.1/2.gtoreq.70wherein X, Y and Z represent the tristimulus values of color.The aluminum material can be surface-treated while setting the treating conditions on the basis of a specific color tone detectable by colorimetry, without relying on experience and intuition. The surface-treated aluminum material can have a good anticorrosion, have good color change preventive properties, a good adhesion of coatings and a beautiful surface appearance.

    Abstract: A paneling material of superior rigidity to the conventional paneling material of the similar type is presented. The paneling material includes a base section and uniformly distributed protrusions which protrude out from the base section. The paneling material is reinforced without adding much weight by providing hollow ribs which can be placed strategically depending on particular requirements of the application. The ribs can be provided on the protrusions, on the base section or on both the protrusions and the base section. The paneling material of such a design can be produced readily by superplastic forming processes. The basic paneling material may serve as a core for a composite paneling material by attaching sheet members on each side of the core paneling material. Other uses for the paneling material include decorative applications in which case the protrusions themselves may form part of the decorations.

The material is an aluminum-based alloy containing 0.3 to 4.0 wt. % of manganese and 0.10 to 5.0 wt. % of magnesium, the remainder being aluminum and unavoidable impurities. The material may additionally contain: at least one of copper and zinc; and/or at least one of chromium, zirconium, vanadium and nickel, if necessary. The material having the composition specified above can be made at a reasonable cost with excellent softening resistance, electric and thermal conductivities, solderability and platability, a high mechanical strength, and an excellent bending repeatability.

    Abstract: An aluminum alloy-core material for brazing, having improved secular corrosion resistance is provided, by a composition of 0.5.about.1.0% of Cu, 0.5.about.1.0% of Mn, 0.10.about.0.30% of Ti, 0.3% or less of Fe, less than 0.10% of Si, and balance of Al, and contains, occasionally at least one element selected from the group consisting of from 0.05 to 0.4% of Mg, from 0.05 to 0.4% of Cr, and from 0.05 to 0.4% of Zr. The alloy is free of an Al-Fe intermetallic compound, has an improved resistance to pitting corrosion and exhibits only a slight reduction in mechanical strength after brazing.
