  • Patent number: 4371204
Abstract: A pivotal roof vent panel apparatus includes a frame adapted to be secured to the periphery of an opening in the roof of a vehicle to support a pivotal roof vent panel therein. The roof vent panel is pivotally disposed within the frame for pivotal movement about a front edge. A two part latch is connected to the rear edge of the roof vent panel at one end and is releasably connected to the frame at the other end. The latch acts as an over-center toggle linkage which forces the roof vent panel into secure engagement with the frame in a closed position and pivots the rear edge of the roof vent panel upward to a partially opened, venting position. A locking arrangement is carried by the latch for securely locking the latch in the extended, venting position.

  • Patent number: 4043590
Abstract: A sliding roof assembly for motor vehicles or the like in which the assembly is mounted on the exterior roof portion of a vehicle adjacent an opening in the latter for sliding movement between a forward closed position and the rearwardly open position. The sliding panel member is secured in a latched position in which it is firmly engaged with a resilient seal which prevents the entry of moisture or air through the roof opening. In the unlatched condition of the panel it is supported relative to the seal to minimize friction for facilitating easy sliding movement of the panel. A drain system is provided to prevent accumulation of moisture on the upper surfaces of the seal.
