  • Patent number: 6347911
Abstract: Flexible elastomer wrap panels stretched and clamped encircling submerged pilings, risers and pipelines are coated to resist degradation by any form of marine life, and incorporate an interior pile-facing felt layer impregnated with a corrosion inhibiting and biocidal gel, providing long term protection for pilings and like submerged objects. The wrap panels present radial rib-strakes protruding outward from the piling and extending along the piling in a longitudinal direction, either vertically, parallel to the vertical axis of the piling or pipe, or slanting helically, reducing or eliminating aeolian vibration induced by flowing ocean currents causing vortex formation. In some embodiments, the wrap panels and strakes incorporate a marine growth inhibiting filler material.

  • Patent number: 5435667
Abstract: A pile wrapper is in the form of a flexible sheet (1,2) which, when encircling a pile, has two contiguous edges. These have abutments (8) which are urged together by a power tool (13) and fastened, conveniently by nuts (19) and bolts (18). The hoop tension induced in the wrapper resists wave suction forces. The wrapper can have an inner layer (2) containing a water resistant sealant which is forced into intimate contact with the pile as the tension is applied. The wrapper may also be given anti-fouling and cathodic protection properties.

  • Patent number: 5433229
Abstract: A system for recovering and washing tube cleaning plugs includes a tube cleaning plug recovery sump disposed in a flowing stream of water and a tube washing subsystem located on-shore. The tube cleaning plugs are recovered from the water and conveyed to the tube washing subsystem where they are washed. After washing, the tube cleaning plugs can be recycled for further use.

  • Patent number: 4696318
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for cleaning and recycling flexible floating cleaning plugs introduced into and propelled by water pressure through the cooling water tubes of a power plant heat exchanger located near a flowing body of water. A cooling water outlet conduit delivers used cooling water from the exit end of the heat exchanger cooling water tubes, together with a plurality of flexible floating cleaning plugs propelled therethrough, discharging them into the flowing body of water upstream from a containment barrier. The barrier has a convergent weir region at its downstream end, and a conveyor carries floating cleaning plugs from the convergent weir through a washing spray positioned to sluice away the accumulated scale, sediment, dirt and sludge gathered by the plugs from the cooling water tubes. A cooling water pump has its intake positioned far downstream in said flowing body of water or in a different body of water.
