    Abstract: A method for rapidly firing a semi-automatic firing unit having a trigger, a receiver and a barrel. The firing unit is placed in a handle so as to enable only reciprocating linear movement along a constrained linear path that is parallel to the barrel. The user grasps the handle and places their trigger finger firmly on a finger rest. In use, the user generates a forward activation force that urges the firing unit forwardly so that the trigger collides with the stabilized finger, stimulating the first round of ammunition in the receiver. A recoil force from the discharging ammunition pushes the firing unit rearwardly so that the trigger separates from the stabilized finger. During the recoil event, the user may apply negative resistance to the translating firing unit which may be varied by the user on-the-fly to proportionally change the firing tempo.

    Abstract: A handle assembly and combined interface system for use with a semi-automatic firearm to facilitate controlled bump firing methods. The handle assembly includes a finger rest for the user's trigger finger. The interface system is attached to a receiver of the firearm, and is slideably disposed in the handle assembly for reciprocation. In use, the user pushes a firing unit portion forward with an opposite hand so that its trigger collides with the user's finger, thus stimulating a round of ammunition. Recoil forces the firing unit rearwardly so that the trigger separates from the finger. The user then applies another forward activation force that urges the firing unit forwardly again to repeat the cycle for as long as the user chooses. A lock can be selectively engaged to restrict longitudinal movement of the firearm relative to the handle, thereby returning the firearm to normal semi-automatic functionality.

    Abstract: A handle (20) for rapidly firing a semi-automatic firearm (22) having a trigger (24). The handle (20) includes a grip portion (52) defining a channel (54). A block (60) that is connected to the firearm (22) is slidably disposed in the channel (54) for allowing longitudinal movement of the firearm (22) relative to the handle (20). The handle (20) also includes a trigger guard (66) disposed on one side of the trigger (24) and extending longitudinally forward of the trigger (24) by a predetermined distance (D) to an open end. The trigger guard (66) presents a finger rest (70) for placing a trigger finger (74) on the trigger guard (66). The trigger guard (66) restricts access to the trigger (24) until the firearm (22) is moved longitudinally forward by the predetermined distance (D) relative to the handle (20).
