Patents Assigned to SM Sbarro Mottas Engineering S.A.
  • Patent number: 5248019
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cycle or an engine-driven vehicle which moves on a bearing surface and more particularly on a road. In the case of a motorcycle, the front steering wheel (20) is fitted with a first crown-shaped roller bearing (22) being comprised of an outer annular element (21) which supports the rim (19) and an interior annular element (23) which is connected to an arm (17). The arm carries at its front end a second crown-shaped roller bearing (24) of which the internal element is made integral by way of a lug (27) of the interior annular element (23) of the roller bearing (22) and of which the interior annular element (26) of bearing (24) is made integral with the arm (17). The device allows to transmit the steering forces at a point located as close as possible to the contact area between the tire (20) and the road.

  • Patent number: 5188192
Abstract: The steering wheel of the vehicle is comprised of an annular roller bearing (22) having an interior annular element (23) which is integral with, for example, an interior element (26) of a second roller bearing (24) and an exterior annular element (21) of the annular roller bearing (22) supports a rim (19) and a tire (20). An exterior element (25) of the second roller bearing (24) is mounted via a pivot (40) supported by an articulated arm (17). The inclination of the second roller bearing and, consequently a caster angle of the steering wheel, is variable by way of a double-acting hydraulic actuator (42) which is supplied with hydraulic fluid by a hydraulic pump (46) driven by a motor (47) and controlled by an electronic circuit (48) coupled to a gear selector mechanism of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5121809
Abstract: The steering wheel (10) of the vehicle is comprised of a plate (40) mounted in an appropriate annular guide (42) integral with the suspension arm (17) of the vehicle, the plate carrying a second roller bearing (24) fixed excentrically to the plate. The exterior element of the roller bearing is integral with the plate (40) and the integral element of the roller bearing is linked to the wheel (10). An electric motor (47) may drive a screw (49) and, as a result, makes the plate (40) pivot about its pivot axis (41). Thereby, the operator of the vehicle may modify the offset of the wheel (10) to displace the median axis (46) to either side from its central position. As a consequence, road handling and stability of the vehicle are improved.

  • Patent number: 5071196
Abstract: A wheel (10) designed to travel on a given support surface comprises a central part (11) and a peripheral part (12) concentric to the central part. The two parts are coupled by a bearing (19) comprising an inner annular element integral with the central part and an outer annular element integral with the peripheral part. The peripheral part comprises a contact element (20) in contact with the support surface and the central part is connected to the basic structure (15) of the vehicle at a decentralized point of attachment (21). The outer part of the bearing (19) comprises a braking ring (22) which co-operates with braking jaws (23) mounted on an arm (13) connected by a swivelling axis (14) to the basic structure (15). The wheel is particularly suitable for passenger cars, motorcycles, trailers, etc.

  • Patent number: 5056871
Abstract: The present invention relates to a structure with multiple independent wheels for cycles or engine-driven vehicles which run on an irregular bearing surface. The structure is comprised of two twin wheels (10, 11) which are interconnected by two toggle-levers (12). Each of the two wheels (10 and 11) is comprised of a central part (13) and a peripheral part (14). The central part is fixed and the peripheral part rotates and is concentric with the central part. Both parts (13 and 14) are coupled to each other by a crown-shaped roller bearing (15) which is comprised of an inner annular element (16) and a rotary outer annular element (17). The two levers (12) are connected to the suspension by arms (20). The device provides an optimum adherence to road surfaces.
