  • Patent number: 8432054
Abstract: A wind turbine has a rotor; a hydraulic pump coupled to the rotor, two or more variable displacement hydraulic motors which are driven by fluid flow from the hydraulic pump, at least one generator coupled to the variable displacement hydraulic motors and a closed loop hydraulic oil circuit for carrying pressurized oil from the hydraulic pump to the motors and to return oil to the pump from the motors. A controller in the closed loop hydraulic oil circuit controls the flow of oil in the closed loop circuit and displacement in each of the variable displacement hydraulic motors. Control of flow in and out of the motor for each revolution of that motor controls the flow to the hydraulic pump which has a fixed displacement, thereby controlling its rpm, thereby controlling the rotor rpm. A hydraulic accumulator can be provided in the closed loop.

  • Patent number: 8115411
Abstract: A light emitting diode lighting device and system that can be used for illuminating the interior and/or exterior of vehicles, aircraft, watercraft, signage or buildings is provided. It includes a voltage feedback constant current power supply circuitry and high power LEDs. The printed circuit assemblies are firmly mounted onto a continuous or semi-continuous mounting channel case that also works as a heat sink. By this means, it not only increases the reliability of the LED lighting tube but also it provides sufficient heat dissipation capability for the heat generated by the LEDs. Since the operating temperature of the LEDs is controlled and stays in cool condition, it dramatically increases the LED's lifetime and efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7188555
Abstract: A multi-bit driver comprises a longitudinally oriented housing including a bit chuck at one end; a plurality of tool bits nested within said housing in a retracted position; and bit assemblies including tool bits and being operable to extend said tool bit from said refracted position to said extended position by a single longitudinal motion for selectively extending tool bits to an extended position and retracting said tool bits to said retracted position, such that in the extended position, said tool bits project from said bit chuck and are substantially longitudinally aligned with said housing.

  • Patent number: 6348798
Abstract: A voltage measuring circuit for measuring a voltage level of an unknown voltage source, including a capacitor configured for storing a charge from the unknown voltage source, a switch such as a transistor, configured to discharge the capacitor after the capacitor has reached a known threshold voltage, a microprocessor which controls the switch and measures the amount of time required to charge the capacitor to the threshold voltage, allowing the voltage level to be measured without disconnecting the capacitor from the circuit.

  • Patent number: 5287565
Abstract: A simple yet inexpensive device is presented which is used to divide the water normally supplied to the spill tube and gooseneck reservoir of a commode. Dividing the water supplied to the spill tube and diverting a substantial portion of that water to a holding tank of a commode saves water that is normally unnecessarily fed directly down the drain in the refilling process. The device is a small plastic insert that has a generally rectangular main body. At one end of this main body is a horizontal inlet tube. At the bottom of the main body are a number of lower vertical outlet tubes. In order to evenly disperse the inlet water among the vertical outlet tubes, the upper mouth of the vertical outlet tubes is constricted by narrowing the diameter of the mouth with respect to the inner diameter of the inlet tube. Water is thus distributed evenly among the lower outlet tubes.

  • Patent number: 5223250
Abstract: Cosmetically acceptable physical sunscreens which remain visibly transparent upon the skin while remaining capable of absorbing substantial UV radiation. A first embodiment is directed to the use of a dispersion of micronized particles of zinc oxide having a very low trace metal content. A second embodiment utilizes substantially larger crystals of substantially pure zinc oxide, measuring between about 1-100 microns in diameter, formed by a process, such as chemical vapor deposition, which produces symmetrical, substantially optically perfect crystals with a relatively smooth outer surface and which are substantially free of internal fractures and imperfections. Visibly transparent glass particles having a diameter of between about 0.01-100.mu. may also be utilized as the UV-absorbing agent. A further embodiment utilizes visibly transparent plastic spheres measuring between about 0.
