Patent number: 6664934Abstract: Matching circuit for radio antenna that functions on a two-frequency band which are spaced approximately at a distance of one octave, wherein the upper band is broad. For instance, the first frequency band may be 890-940 MHz and the other band 1710-2200 MHz. The radiator may be a dipole or a monopole over the earth plane, whose bandwidth is sufficient for the first band. The larger bandwidth for the second band is obtained with a transmission circuit that moves and forms the frequency curve stepwise in the Smith chart. When necessary, the matching circuit includes a broadband Balun transformer in addition to said matching circuit.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2001Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Assignee: Smarteq Wireless ABInventor: Zsolt Barna

Patent number: 6636183Abstract: An antenna means for transmitting and/or receiving RF signals, a radio communication system and a method for manufacturing a radiating structure. The antenna means comprises a conductive structure (10) extending between first and second opposite edges (11, 12), and a feed portion. The conductive structure (10) is formed to a radiating structure (1) partially enclosing a volume, and the first and second edges (11, 12) are located at a distance from each other forming a radiating first slit (21), which has a first and a second open end. Hereby an antenna means, which can be made compact, and can operate in more than one frequency band is obtained. A second slit can be arranged to improve the operation in a higher frequency band. The radio communication system comprises transmitting/receiving circuits connected to an such antenna means.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2001Date of Patent: October 21, 2003Assignee: Smarteq Wireless ABInventors: Mattias Hellgren, Robert Graham

Patent number: 6611235Abstract: The present invention relates to an antenna coupling device (14) for coupling radio frequency signal from a communication device (10) having an internal first antenna, the communication device (10) operable in n frequency bands, where n>1 and n is an integer. The antenna coupling device (14) comprises a port (16) connected/connectable to a transmission line (18). A conducting surface of said antenna coupling device (14) has a geometric shape in the form of a tree structure (20) connected to said port (16).Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2002Date of Patent: August 26, 2003Assignee: Smarteq Wireless ABInventors: Zsolt Barna, Peter Lindberg

Patent number: 6538607Abstract: An adapter antenna (2) is used for contactless connection of a mobile telephone (1) to an external antenna (4) in case the telephone lacks a connector for coaxial cable (3) for such a purpose. The most common application is when a mobile telephone is to be used in a vehicle. Transfer of radio waves occurs in the near field of the built-in antenna (6) of the telephone by capacitive coupling. One preferred embodiment especially suited for plane inverted antennae of type L, E or F is described. An optimizing method for two frequency bands is described.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2001Date of Patent: March 25, 2003Assignee: Smarteq Wireless ABInventor: Zsolt Barna

Patent number: 6239769Abstract: The known antenna connectors for transmitting RF-signals from an outside antenna to a portable telephone includes a connecting cable (8), one end of which is connected to the outside antenna (11) and the second end which is connected with a circuit (4), which capacitively or inductively transmits the RF-signals from the outside antenna to a main antenna of the telephone. In order to improve the coupling performance said circuit consists of a meander formed loop (4) of conductive material, which loop (4) is arranged on a substrate (5) of non conducting material and in one end (6) is connected with the connecting cable (7). The cable has a screen (10) which is connected with a ground element (9), and couples with the ground plane of the telephone, whereat the meander formed loop is placed beside main antenna (11) when transmitting RF-signals.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1999Date of Patent: May 29, 2001Assignee: Smarteq Wireless ABInventors: Ina Ericsson, Aleksis Anterow
