Abstract: A method of security marking, in a system which includes one or more marker deployment devices, each marker deployment device for deploying a marker liquid in a corresponding deployment region, and one or more sensors, each sensor for detecting activity within a corresponding sensor detection region, wherein each marker deployment region overlaps one or more sensor detection regions at least partially and wherein for each marker deployment region the overlapping one or more sensor detection regions include at least one sensor detection region corresponding to a sensor capable of recording video.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a security apparatus comprising a blocking device having a formable bag and a marker layer including a transferable marker composition that can be transferred onto any object penetrating the marker layer and any other object or person coming into contact with the marker composition in the event of an attempt to remove the blocking device by puncturing the bag. The blocking device may block an access point such as a manhole to block unauthorized access. The formable bag may be made to conform to the shape of an access passage by inflation or deflation using valve.

Abstract: There is provided a marker system for applying to surfaces operating at high temperatures, the marker system comprising a marker and a temperature resilient medium capable of securing the marker system onto a high temperature surface; wherein the medium contains an inorganic matrix to secure the marker to a surface; wherein the marker comprises a fingerprint to render the marker unique; and wherein the marker system further comprises indicator material to indicate the presence of the marker. Further provided is a composition comprising the marker system. Abstract: A security product is disclosed herein comprising a pouch containing a composition, the composition including a mixture of a liquid, a polymer, a light-emitting material and a plurality of marker materials. The pouch may form part of a blocking device blocking an access passage that gives access to a restricted area, such as a manhole, and the composition may be transferred onto an object or individual coming into contact with the composition if an attempt is made to break through the pouch.

Abstract: There is disclosed by the present invention a method of generating a marker to distinguish between genuine and counterfeit goods by applying to surfaces of items, articles, goods, vehicles, fabrics and/or premises, the method includes: applying at least one coding to the surface, where the coding is applied randomly such that the coding provides a unique pattern when subjected to a particular type of stimulus.

Abstract: A spray device is disclosed herein comprising a reservoir having a centre; a gas inlet tube configured to introduce a gas from a gas source into the reservoir, the gas inlet tube having a proximal end for fluid connection to the gas source and a distal end within the reservoir; and outlet configured to release fluid from the reservoir, wherein the gas inlet tube is positioned to direct gas entering the reservoir away from the centre of the reservoir. The spray device may be actuated in response to detection of an event by a sensor. The spray device may spray a unique marker liquid.

Abstract: A method for determining a crime deterrent factor of a security system or security equipment includes determining a value for a traceability factor, a robustness factor, an analytics factor, a prosecutions factor and a publicity factor based on attributes of a particular security system or security equipment, wherein the value for each of the factors is determined by comparing the attributes of the particular security system or security equipment against a scale of predetermined attributes each of which have been assigned a value; (i) factoring the traceability value by the robustness value; (ii) factoring the analytics value by the prosecution value; (iii) combining the values obtained by steps (i) and (ii) by either addition or multiplication; and (iv) multiplying the value of step (iii) by the publicity value.

Abstract: A method for identifying a surface in which a plurality of trace material is used to establish a database in which a unique combination of trace materials is assigned to a unique source. A composition is formulated containing the unique combination together with an indicator material and a solvent system, the solvent system including a solvent which is volatile under conditions of application. This composition is applied to a surface and the solvent permitted to evaporate, after which the composition is detected on the basis of the indicator material and each of the plurality of trace materials is identified. The unique source can then be determined from the database.
