Abstract: A winding for a transformer or choke coil wherein successive turns are arranged onto each other in radial direction. To provide for optimal cooling conditions axially extending cooling channels are provided by placing spacers between the successive radial turns of the winding. To provide for a limited volume, the turns which are adjacent to each other in the axial direction are located directly onto each other without interspacing.
Abstract: A bar filter is disclosed which is fit for use in an apparatus for removing phosphates from waste water. Thereto phosphates are chemically bound to magnetic material, like magnetite, and subsequently the liquid containing the suspended particles is fed through a filter according to the present invention. The magnetic particles adhere to the bars of the magnetic filter so that the filter gradually fills with the particles. According to the present invention, the configuration of the bars of the filter is such that the gradient of the magnetic field is substantially constant, leading to an even filling of the filter, so that the frequency of flushing the filter to empty it is limited as far as possible. Preferably the density of the bars is a plane perpendicular to the bars is constant.
Abstract: A method is described according to which composite particles made up of carrier magnetite particles with calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate flakes adhered thereto and present in a fluid suspension are separated into particles and flakes. To accomplish the method, the suspension is first introduced into the intake of a centrifugal pump. Vanes within the pump are then rotated to produce turbulence in the pump housing and a velocity gradient within the tangential discharge. The composite particles within the liquid are subjected to the velocity gradient and to shearing forces which cause an effective separation of the composite particles. The velocity gradient is such that shearing separation of the composite particles results in separated elements sized with the magnetite particles at least as large as the separated flakes of calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate.
Abstract: A connecting member for establishing delta circuits in a three-legged transformer includes a body formed from a mass of insulating material and having first, second and third pairs of opposing, radially extending connecting elements and electrically conductive members housed in the body and the pairs of electrical communication and for establishing a predetermined delta circuit when said pairs of connecting elements are electrically connected to the transformer terminals. Visual markings and/or window areas can be provided to permit visual determination of the first, second and third paths.
Abstract: A contact piece for providing conductive interconnection between the delta connection of the windings of a three-legged core transformer includes an insulative body having opposing vertical end surfaces in each of which a pair of end contacts is provided and an intermediate pair of opposing parallel horizontal surfaces in which a pair of opposing middle contacts are provided, the vertical separation between the pairs of end contacts and the pair of middle contacts being substantially equal. A transparent cover having horizontally separated and aligned apertures is also disclosed, the apertures being registered with one contact of each of the pairs of contacts.
