  • Publication number: 20200367879
Abstract: Bone anchors having improved fixation are discussed. The bone anchors include an anchor body and radially protruding ribs that extend approximately parallel to a longitudinal axis of the bone anchor. A leading distal edge of each rib may be configured in a tapered “knife-edge” configuration. Such ribs may mitigate the plow-out effect, preserving contact between the ribs and the surrounding bone along the length of the anchor. Furthermore, such ribs provide increased surface area, improving fixation strength.

  • Publication number: 20200360007
Abstract: Anchor delivery systems include anchors having a generally cylindrical body with a rail on top for positioning within a delivery device slot. The rail incorporates a side-bulge as a retaining feature which axially extends along a majority of the length of the rail. The bulge interferes with a corresponding hourglass cutout in the delivery device slot to prevent the anchor from stripping out of the delivery device when the delivery device is retracted through tissue. The anchors are symmetrical along a length and width to facilitate loading within the delivery device. The distal portion of the delivery device includes a series of distally-extending barbs that intentionally change the penetration force required to push the device tip through tissue.

  • Publication number: 20200360010
Abstract: Tissue repair assemblies for repairing soft tissue consist of two soft anchors connected by a suture. Each soft anchor is a woven braid with a suture stitched through opposite sides of the anchor. The suture includes a pre-tied sliding knot located between the anchors. When the anchors are deployed in the body and the knot is reduced toward the tissue, the suture slides through the anchors, causing them to expand radially or fold to form a ball shape or cluster, thus increasing the contact area against the tissue and improving the overall construct strength.

  • Patent number: 10835264
Abstract: A drill guide includes a body, a stabilizing member, a tubular guide sleeve, and an engagement member. The body includes a first channel aligned with a longitudinal axis and a second channel transverse to the longitudinal axis. The first channel is dimensioned to receive the sleeve, while the second channel is dimensioned to receive an engagement member. The engagement member is adapted to move within the second channel between an engaged position, where the engagement member inhibits proximal motion of the sleeve, and a second position, where motion of the sleeve is not inhibited. An alignment member is further mounted to the distal end of the sleeve that includes a distally extending member, spaced from the sleeve. In use, the distally extending member may be employed to exert a force upon a bone or other tissue lateral to the longitudinal axis for improved positioning of the bone or tissue.

  • Patent number: 10806506
Abstract: A method comprising sealing a vessel residing within tissue between jaws of forceps by sensing an amount of tissue held within the forceps, the sensing by passing electrical current through the tissue by way of the forceps. The method comprises heating the tissue using electrical current, the heating such that impedance of the tissue changes at a first predetermined rate, the first predetermined rate selected based on the sensing. The method comprises desiccating the tissue using electrical current, such that the impedance of the tissue changes at a second predetermined rate different than the first predetermined rate. The method comprises ceasing application of the electrical current to the tissue when impedance of the tissue reaches a predetermined value. Sensing the amount of tissue held within the forceps comprises varying electrical current flowing through the tissue through the forceps such that impedance of the tissue changes at a third predetermined rate.
