Abstract: A head section for a rear view device such as an internal or external mirror, for a motor vehicle that includes at least one housing section having a lid section arranged on a side of the housing section which faces away from the direction of driving of the motor vehicle, at least one electronic unit arranged in a hollow area formed between the housing section and the lid section, and at least one rear view means arranged on the lid section for displaying a side or rear area of the motor vehicle in relation to the direction of driving,
Abstract: A rear-view side mirror assembly includes a base for attachment to a vehicle, one or more support arms extending from the base, and a mirror head attached to the support arm and configured for telescoping movement along the support arm. A camera is fixedly attached to the support arm so as to remain stationary relative to the mirror base and vehicle as the mirror head telescopes inward and outward. An elongated aperture in the mirror head housing ensures that the camera lens is not occluded as the mirror head telescopes between a retracted position and an extended position. A flexible track covers portions of the elongated aperture on alternate sides of the lens as the housing telescopes relative to the lens.

Abstract: The invention is related to a lighting element for a homogenous light appearance used in automotive devices. The lighting element has a light guide structure illuminated by a LED that feeds light into the light guide at the edge of the light guide. The diffuser pane forms a diffuser layer on the light guide surface and light guide and diffuser layer consist of plastic material and are in integrally molded together in a 2-K molding process.
Abstract: A method for creating a concave section of glass from a glass substrate having flat surfaces includes the use of a grinding wheel and a turntable. The method includes the steps of securing the glass substrates to the turntable. The turntable is then spun to create a turntable axis of rotation. The grinding wheel is rotated about a wheel axis of rotation such that the wheel axis of rotation is perpendicular to the turntable axis of rotation. The grinding wheel and the turntable move relative to each other along the turntable axis of rotation. The glass substrate is ground by the grinding wheel contacting the glass substrate to create the concave section of glass while the glass substrate is rotating about the wheel axis of rotation and moving relative to the turntable.

Abstract: A hinge construction for a wing mirror unit for a motor vehicle is proposed that comprises a first hinge part for mounting on the motor vehicle and a second hinge part, pivotably connected therewith via a shaft. The second hinge part supports a mirror frame of the wing mirror unit, wherein the shaft is connected with one hinge part and wherein the other hinge part is arranged pivotably about the shaft. The mirror frame has a location guide that corresponds with a location rib of a power fold module that is inserted into the frame.
Abstract: An exterior mirror is proposed, which is configured with an LED as a signal light in the simplest manner. A contact body at the LED facilitates simple assembly and simple contacting of the LED.
Abstract: This invention relates generally to vision systems for vehicles and, more particularly, to rear-view vision systems which provide the vehicle operator with scenic information in the direction rearward of the vehicle. More particularly, the invention relates to a rear-view vision system utilizing image capture devices, such as CMOS imaging arrays in external rear view mirrors to support lane change in a driver assistant system.
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for producing an electroactive substrate. The process includes providing a substrate having an oxidant layer on a surface thereof, exposing the surface containing the oxidant layer to a vapor containing an aryl or heteroaryl monomer that is polymerizable to form an electroactive polymer, and polymerizing the aryl or heteroaryl monomer in the presence of a volatile Lewis base to form a polyaryl or polyheteroaryl electroactive polymer film on the surface of the substrate. The invention also provides electroactive substrates formed by the process.
