Abstract: A method of operating a flying shear for cutting a rolled strip, which includes at least one drum provided with a blade, includes synchronizing a peripheral speed of the blade with a feed rate of the rolled strip, and cutting the rolled strip by effecting a partial penetration of the blade in the rolled strip to produce a weakened location of the rolled strip, and by tearing the rolled strip at the weakened location by a tensile force.

Abstract: A hot rolling installation should be constructed and able to be operated so that strips of materials, which can be shaped with different levels of difficulty and have a thickness of less than 1 mm, can be rolled. According to the invention, strip speeds of 15 m/sec should not be exceeded at the outlet of the last roll stand regardless of the material being used, and the hot-rolled strip should have austenitic structures. To this end, the invention provides that thin slab thicknesses of approximately 50 mm are used for easily shapeable material, that the first of seven stands is driven or executes only a smoothing pass, the slab is de-scaled in front of and behind the first stand, and that the second to seventh stand effects the reduction in thickness to less than 1 mm.

The strip can be turned about any angle by means of at least one deflection roller, with roller banks (5) which are arranged on the circumference of the deflection roller, and which respectively comprise a plurality of individual rollers. Plastic and elastic deformations are avoided due to the fact that the strip is supported at various points by the individual rollers of successive roller banks (5). The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method. Said device enables the roller banks placed one after the other in the strip deflection direction to be staggered in relation to each other in such a way that the contact surfaces of their rollers with the strip are staggered from bank to bank, by one roller width (11,12).
Abstract: The invention relates to a continuous casting mold, in particular a thin slab mold in which the flow of a liquid metal in the mold is influenced by a magnetic field generated by permanent magnets, wherein the permanent magnets have, over the width and/or height thereof, different magnetic strengths or are spaced from each other by different distances for a different field strength. To provide for variation of the magnetic field strength, the permanent magnets are differently adjusted in groups for changing a field strength distribution.

Abstract: The reliable sealing of a gap (10), between a roller front face (7) and a side seal (3) on a roller-strip-casting machine is achieved by the generation of an electrical eddy field in the region of the gap (10), such as to produce a local gradient field (13). The eddy currents generated in the metal melt for casting prevent the ingress of the metal into the gap (10) or eject the metal from the gap (10). The risk of escape of liquid metal is essentially eliminated and the formation of ridges on the narrow edge of the metal strip avoided.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a strip casting machine for producing a metal strip during which molten metal is continuously poured between two casting rolls (3, 4) that form a casting gap. Abstract: A device for changing pairs of work rolls and/or pairs of backup rolls of roll stands, wherein the rolls are each supported in chocks and are movable out or in by a lower back up roll supported on a track and wheels. The work rolls on the drive side of the roll stand can be coupled to a hydraulic piston-cylinder actuator that is dimensioned in is stroke length for the removal or installation distance and can be uncoupled when it has been withdrawn by the required distance. A roll changing frame can be coupled to the actuator and, when the upper backup roll and the roll changing frame are supported on the lower backup roll, the pair of backup rolls can be moved out or back in. The actuator is coupled to a pusher with connecting arms aligned with ends of the rolls. The actuator is arranged on the drive side of the roll stand and is coupled to the pusher through a piston rod.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for cooling and/or lubricating rollers, in particular the working rollers (2, 3) on a rolling stand and a rolled strip (1), rolled between the above rollers and transported onwards, using water in the form of spray jets (4, 5) as cooling medium and oil, oil/water mix, oil/water mix, oil/air/water mix or grease mixtures as lubricant. In order to improve the lubricating and cooling effects, a combined application of super-cooling the strip and roller surfaces and roller lubrication on the input side of the stand is disclosed, in which both media, water and lubricant, are separately fed to the rollers (2, 3) and the rolled strip and applied to the roller surface at different application points. Separate reservoirs for water and lubricant and separate lines to the spraying bar (11) for water and the spraying bar (12) for the lubricant are provided.
Abstract: The invention relates to a damper construction (2) of a furnace coiler (1) which can especially be used in Steckel mills (1). A hot rolled strip is respectively coiled onto, and uncoiled off, a drum inside the furnace in a reversing manner, by means of a back and forth transport movement, and is optionally heated. Guiding flaps (6, 6?) are mounted on the displaceable damper (2) of the furnace coiler, for inserting and guiding the rolled strip. In order to improve maintenance work, the dampers (2) and the furnace coiler (1) are embodied as separate components. Abstract: The invention relates to a method and casting roller plant for the semi-endless or endless rolling by casting of a metal, in particular a steel strip (1a), which may be transversely separated as required after solidification.
