    Abstract: A method and a plant for rolling hot-rolled wide strip from continuously cast thin slabs of ferritic/pearlitic microalloyed structural steels with a microalloy with vanadium and/or with niobium and/or with titanium in a CSP plant or compact strip production plant, wherein the cast slab strand is supplied divided into rolling lengths through an equalizing furnace to a multiple-stand CSP rolling train and is continuously rolled in the CSP rolling train into hot-rolled wide strip, is then cooled in a cooling stretch and is reeled into coils. For achieving optimum mechanical properties in hot-rolled wide strip by thermomechanical rolling, a controlled structure development is carried out when the thin slabs travel through the CSP plant.

The connecting elements of the groups are adjustable over an adjusting length distance, wherein at least one of the groups is adjustable under load by an adjustment drive in the adjusting direction over an under-load length distance and wherein the under-load length distance is substantially smaller than the adjusting length distance. With respect to the portion of the adjusting length distance which exceeds the under-load length distance, the groups of connecting elements are constructed so as to be without drive.

The blasting nozzles of the strip blasting apparatus are controlled in such a way that always only that nozzle is provided with compressed air which is located next to the last edge zone nozzle, i.e., is located outside of the existing blasting range, so that the strip edge is specifically blasted and dried.

A second row of nozzles may be arranged in front of the nozzles at a distance which ensures that the water jets do not influence each other.     Abstract: A continuously cast strand is cut into elongated billets having ends and the billets are run through a rolling stand. after cutting the strand into billets and before rolling the billets one of the billets is engaged in the rolling stand and a trailing end of the one billet and a leading end of another billet are enclosed in a mold with the ends longitudinally spaced. This space between the ends is filled with molten metal in contact with the ends of the billets and the molten metal is hardened to interconnect the billet ends. Then the mold is removed from around the billet ends. The molten metal is of substantially the same composition as the billets. Furthermore the one billet is advanced in a travel direction by means of the stand and the mold and the other billet are advanced synchronously with the one billet after enclosing the billet ends in the mold. The mold is removed from the billet ends before the hardened metal between the billet ends enters the rolling stand.
