    Abstract: A tongue retaining device and a method of using the same are provided. The device includes an implant member configured to be anchored in a tongue, a dental plate configured to be worn upon mandibular teeth, and a coupling member couplable between the implant member and the dental plate to promote direct anterior displacement of the tongue. The tongue retaining device may be offered as part of a kit with a tongue-piercing device.
