Abstract: A system for measuring a vehicle's height above ground level including a sensor which is preassembled and incorporated in the shock absorber of the vehicle eliminating assembly operations and fasteners in attaching the unit to the vehicle and protecting the sensor from impacts and the action of external agents due to its shielded position within the shock absorber.

Abstract: A shock-absorbing resilient support for the suspension of a body on a support structure, particularly for the suspension of motor vehicle engines, motor lorry cabs and the like, comprises a chamber having a variable volume, which is filled with gas under pressure and serves to support at least part of the weight of the suspended body. The support further comprises two variable volume chambers filled with a viscous fluid and separated by a dividing wall provided with at least one passage for the transfer of viscous fluid from one chamber to the other upon displacement of the suspended body with respect to the support structure. Valve means are provided to vary the overall flow cross-section which puts the two chambers filled with the viscous fluid into communication with one another in the event of low frequency, high amplitude displacements of the suspended body with respect to the support structure.

Abstract: A diaphragm pump particularly adapted for use as a fuel pump includes septe caps having pipe unions extending therefrom. The caps are snap-engageable with the pump body.

Abstract: The shock absorber is of the type in which there is gas under pressure in the interspace between the two coaxial tubes or cylinders.In order to prevent the gas under pressure from reaching the upper part of the shock absorber and at the same time allow the hydraulic fluid which has been drawn to the upper part of the shock absorber to descend to the interspace, an annular gasket of elastomeric or similar material with an inverted U- or V-shaped cross-section is arranged in the upper part of the interspace to form an annular channel which is open at the bottom and defined by two annular lips engaging with the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder respectively. One of these lips may separate elastically from the respective cylinder so that oil may descend into the interspace. This deformable lip engages the respective cylinder in an annular zone below the rim at the upper end of the inner cylinder.
