Abstract: Method of manufacturing steel components containing 12 to 14% by weight of manganese having an austenitic structure, said parts being provided with steel end pieces having a mainly austenitic structure permitting their junction by welding to components made of any desired alloy, wherein, before applying thermal treatment, said end pieces are cast into moulds disposed directly at the ends of said manganese steel components. The ends of the manganese steel component are shaped and the end pieces are subsequently cast thereon in such a manner that each end of the part comprises a front surface inclined about a transverse horizontal axis.

Abstract: A rigid type truck or bogie frame in which the cross-member or bolster is secured at its end portions to a laterally extending central portion of each side member includes a cylindrical portion registering with the main body of the cross-member or bolster and to which the respective ends of the cross-member or bolster are secured as by by butt welding. Each central portion has an upper substantially flat face, a lower slightly convex face and two pairs of laterally protruding swells so as to reduce stress concentrations.

Abstract: Railway rolling-stock truck bolster or cross-member provided with a bearing for receiving the vertical pintle of the vehicle, wherein at least one of a first pair of front and rear sectors of the upper edge of the bearing, facing the front and rear end of the vehicle, respectively, is substantially tangent, in a central area, to the upper edge of a corresponding lateral wall portion of the cross member, at least one of the sectors of the first front and rear sectors of the upper edge of the bearing is connected via a pair of skew surface portions each beginning in each one of two lateral portions of said sector to a pair of inclined lateral surfaces of the cross member.
