  • Patent number: 4726182
Abstract: A system is disclosed for controlling the flow of air through the air-fuel mixing device for a turbojet engine. The system simultaneously controls the amount of air passing through turbulence generating baffles and that passing into the combustion chamber depending upon the operating conditions of the turbojet engine.

  • Patent number: 4674951
Abstract: A ring of an annular valve assembly is movable in the direction of its longitudinal axis and is intended for an axial compressor blow-off arrangement. The ring takes the form of an axially orientated channel-section member having a first annular skin of concave section nested in a second annular skin also of concave section. A cavity filled with a synthetic resin filler is defined by the two skins. The blow-off arrangement for an axial-flow compressor of a turbo-jet engine, which incorporates this ring, comprises an annular opening with which the ring cooperates to re-form the wall of the air flow when the blow-off arrangement is inoperative.

  • Patent number: 4669104
Abstract: An indicator for determining the sensitivity of a radiological defect testing device which simulates plane defects within a workpiece. Two or more tapered elements are placed side by side on a support such that parallel, adjacent sides define the plane defects. The elements are oriented such that the plane defect extends generally parallel to the direction of the radiation.

  • Patent number: 4656827
Abstract: A fuel metering system for a gas turbine engine is disclosed which includes two rotating flowmeters connected to the fuel supply circuit in parallel. The speed of the flowmeters are controlled by a pair of braking motors and tachometers are provided in each to provide an output signal of their rotational speeds. A control circuit is connected to the system to regulate the speed of the flowmeters to insure that the total fuel flow coincides with a reference value. Should a malfunction occur in one of the flowmeter systems, the control circuit may regulate the speed of the remaining flowmeter to retain the total fuel flow at the reference value.

  • Patent number: 4648795
Abstract: The invention discloses a confinement structure for a turbojet engine to retain and confine fragments of a rotor blade. The structure has three zones of varying vulnerability to the blade fragments so as to maximize the confinement of such fragments, while minimizing the weight of the structure. A first zone, located in the plane of rotation of the rotor blade wheel confines the small fragments which may impact in this zone. A second zone, adjacent to the first, but located downstream, contains a retention belt structure to absorb the energy generated by contact with the larger blade fragments. Finally, a third zone, downstream of the second zone, defines a containment chamber to retain the larger blade fragments.

  • Patent number: 4640980
Abstract: An assembly of electro-magnetic screening devices for electrical cabling including tappings or branches of the kind in which each main cable and each tapping is enclosed in a screening sheath. At the junction between the main cable and the tappings each tapping is surrounded by a metallic ring itself covered by the screening sheath, the various metallic rings of the various tappings at one point being juxtaposed and the assembly thus formed being externally covered successively by the screening sheath of the main cable and by an external metallic ring which clamps the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4614550
Abstract: Thermo-mechanical treatment of superalloys enabling simultaneously the production of a structure which is fine and homogeneous, with work hardened grains, a reduction in the stresses resulting from cooling and the absence of parasitic phase (Ni.sub.3 Nb-.delta. in the form of platelets for the Ni bases), characterized by an isothermal aging of predetermined duration after deformation in the final shaping sequence and in the finishing sequence which is followed by a limited amount of deformation and by a final heat treatment constituted solely by annealing producing precipitation of the hardening phase, this final treatment being optionally arranged to follow the finishing treatment, or in sequence, after cooling in air.

  • Patent number: 4595339
Abstract: A compressor disc assembly with an integral centripetal accelerator for the exhaustion of air for use in a cooling device of a gas turbine, the bleeding of air at the surface of the compressor drum being effected by orifices situated in the platforms of the blades and in the median plane of the compressor disc. The assembly is formed from two half discs. The centripetal accelerator includes several sectors detachably mounted in the space defined between the two half discs of the compressor, each sector being formed from two half shells having on their internal face ribs in the form of centripetal blades by which the half shells are assembled together. The invention is utilized for cooling a gas turbine by bleeding air from the compressor.
