  • Patent number: 4555918
Abstract: A needle for interlacing yarns, strands or the like in a multi-directional woven structure composed of a shank bent to form an elastic blade. The end of the blade is normally resiliently applied against the shank, so as to form the eye of the needle which is opened by moving the blade away from the shank by means of an opener. The yarn is thus inserted and the eye is allowed to close while the needle is moved.

  • Patent number: 4549864
Abstract: A process and apparatus for stacking layers of composite material on moulding equipment comprises a transfer band on which each of two opposed working sections has a surface suction device to hold on it a layer that has been placed in a precise position in register with an outline, projected onto the transfer band by means of neon tubes and a frosted glass plate in a first working station. The band transfers the layer to a second working station where the layer is isolated in a sealed enclosure by means of an inflatable joint carried by a frame facing a peripheral ridge surrounding the moulding equipment. Reduced pressure is produced in the enclosure via a reduced pressure outlet causing the transfer band to be displaced towards the moulding equipment and draping the layer over the latter.

  • Patent number: 4531693
Abstract: A steering system for a missile provided with aerodynamic surfaces such as fins comprises a gas generator and lateral nozzles through which the gas generated by the gas generator emerges. The nozzles are arranged to lie between adjacent pairs of the aerodynamic surfaces, to project beyond the fuselage of the missile and to have an oblong cross-section, the largest dimension of which lies substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the missile. The gas flow through the nozzles is controlled by complete or partial closing of the nozzles. The shape and placement of the nozzles minimizes changes in the aerodynamic characteristics of the missile caused by interaction between the gas jets emerging from the nozzles and the flow of air over the aerodynamic surface of the missile.

  • Patent number: 4473203
Abstract: The invention relates to a control column (2) for a copilot of an aircraft, coupled for control of roll and pitch by a linkage (5) to the pilot's control column (1). This linkage comprises two parallel rods (6,7) pivoted on the one hand to the column (1) and on the other hand to a member (13) connected to the column (2) by a double universal joint (14, 17). When operative, the column (2) is locked to the member (13) by a lock bolt (19). This control column can be put out of action by releasing the said bolt and can be secured by hooking to a fixed point, in which case the double universal joint (14, 17) ensures its disconnection from the column (1) and thus prevents any misoperation.
