Abstract: In the making of coated paper products an improved process is disclosed for separating wet, semi-dry or dried coated paper from an application unit or a drying roll. The process comprises the steps of providing a paper web with a release composition in the form of an aqueous layer or film including the reaction product of alkanolamine and a fatty acid in equimolar proportions, providing an agent to maintain the pH factor to predetermined level and adding preselected amounts of a viscosity-regulating substance and water. The release composition may be applied directly to a drying roll or drum or to fluting rolls use for corrugated paperboard.
Abstract: A method for controlling the combustion and reduction processes in a black liquor (B.L.) boiler of a paper pulp plant by influencing the feeding of black liquor to the B.L. recovery boiler by means of a B.L. gun. Characteristic of the method is that the average thickness of the layer of the B.L. flow, immediately after the black liquor has left the B.L. gun, is controlled to have a desired magnitude. The thickness of the B.L. layer is obtained in the form of an indirect measure which is defined as the droplet index (=DIX) and is constituted by a relationship between the viscosity, the density and the feed rate of the black liquor and by at least the shape and the opening area, of the B.L. gun.

Abstract: An improved method and means for dry defibrating fiber material in the form of chemical, chemi-mechanical or mechanical fiber pulp or mixtures thereof by means of known defibration devices, so-called shredders, mills or similar devices, to obtain fluff, i.e. exposed, unbonded fibers and fiber flocks used in a manner known per se to make paper, paper-like and absorbent products, by which method said fiber material is fed to the defibration device in the form of a continuous web from a bale being said means and consisting of a pressed or non-pressed zig-zag-shaped, repeatedly folded continuous web.
