Patents Assigned to Soff-Cut International, Inc.
  • Patent number: 8276578
Abstract: A skid plate for a concrete saw is integrally cast having two end mounting portions and a middle portion with a slot in the middle portion. A horizontal slot in a leading end mounting portion cooperates and a vertical slot in the trailing end portion releasably engage pins on the saw to allow the skid plate to be easily fastened to and removed from the saw. A spring loaded latch mechanism holds the pins in the slots.

  • Patent number: 7073495
Abstract: A concrete cutting saw has wheels and a rotating cutting blade that cuts a groove in the concrete surface. A support is mounted to the saw to support the concrete surface adjacent the cutting blade to reduce raveling. One or more nozzles are mounted to the saw and in fluid communication with a gas source to provide a gas stream directed toward the support so the gas stream from the nozzle impinges on a leading end of the support. The one or more nozzles are located adjacent to and in front of a leading end of the support, and preferably blow on opposing sides of the plane containing the cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 6990972
Abstract: A concrete saw has a rotating cutting blade that rotates in a first plane to cut a groove in a concrete surface. The blade is guided along that groove by two guides. A rolling or sliding support member on opposing sides of each guide roll or side along the concrete to support the saw blade on the concrete and to position the blade relative to the concrete. The guides and rollers are advantageously on opposing sides of the blade. The guide can be a sliding member but is preferably a rolling disc sandwiched between two rolling supports. A diverter can prevent debris from the blade from getting under the movable support.

  • Patent number: 6892719
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing radiused corners on a crack control groove is provided. A radius on the two opposing corners of the crack control groove is simultaneously formed by inserting a pilot segment of a rotating cutting blade into the groove to chase the groove with the blade. The cutting blade has side cutting segments on opposing sides of the pilot segment. The side cutting segments have a concave shape with abrasive material thereon and are located and sized to cut a predetermined radius on the opposing corners 32. Convex shaped shoulder segments inhibit the formation of a well if the blade cuts too deeply. The pilot segment advantageously has no abrasive on its sides so it does not widen the groove, and the pilot segment is shorter than the depth of the groove so it does not deepen the groove.
