Patent number: 9907096Abstract: A system, method and apparatus for re-establishing a video call received at a public safety answering point are described. A Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) video call establishment request is received at an emergency call answer node. The video call establishment request has an indication of a previously established emergency messaging session between an operator workstation and a sending device to re-establish. The emergency call answer node checks a recovery queue for a previously received call establishment request having a matching indication for the previously established video call to re-establish. The emergency call answer node bridges a session leg for the received call establishment request and a session leg for the previously received call establishment request having the matching indication for the previously established messaging session to re-establish the messaging session when a match is found.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2016Date of Patent: February 27, 2018Assignee: Solacom Technologies Inc.Inventors: Daniel Biage, Gilles Ferland

Patent number: 9426304Abstract: A method and system of emergency call management is provided. Emergency calls received at an emergency service platform (ESP) through one or more communication networks are associated with location information. The location information is identified to a map server through an i3 event logging protocol to be displayed on graphical map displays at operator positions. An operator of an operator position can then select a call from the graphical map display and an associated responder client will request that the emergency call be routed by the ESP to the operator or a secondary responder agency. The operator position are associated with a public safety access point (PSAP) associated with the incoming emergency calls.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2014Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: Solacom Technologies Inc.Inventors: Daniel Biage, Gilles Ferland

Patent number: 8856245Abstract: A short message service (SMS) message management system for special number service operator in a public safety answering point based environment is provided. SMS messages received at a gateway are converted to instant messaging session and routed to an operator position coupled to the gateway. The gateway maintains a messaging session between the operator position and the wireless device ensuring consistent communication is provided between the two parties.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2011Date of Patent: October 7, 2014Assignee: Solacom Technologies Inc.Inventors: Gilles Ferland, Daniel Biage, Raymond A. Patent number: 8830987Abstract: An apparatus and a method for IP-based call answering point selection and routing. When an IP-based call is placed to an answering point such as, for example, a Public Safety Answering Point a location for the caller can not be determined using traditional DNIS and ANI based techniques. In the present invention, a geographic location (geolocation) for the caller is determined, from as IP address associated with the caller, using a database. The database comprises information obtained from a plurality of IP location sources (e.g. Skyhook Wireless Inc.'s Loki™, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandated WiFi™ hotspot registration data). An answering point is selected from a plurality of answering points as a function of the caller's location. The call is routed to the selected answering point and the caller's location information is provided to that answering point.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2008Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignees: Solacom Technologies Inc., Bandwidth.com, Inc.Inventors: Raymond A. Patent number: 7486701Abstract: A method for encoding ATS-QSIG standard-based content for transmission over a 56 kb/s clear channel. The method encodes each of the three 16 kb/s ATS-QSIG voice sub-channels on to corresponding 16 kb/s voice sub-channels in the 56 kb/s clear channel. The method encodes the 16 kb/s ATS-QSIG data sub-channel on to a 8 kb/s data sub-channel in the 56 kb/s clear channel. Using the method, the ATS-QSIG standard can be used in a network such as, for example, the North American PSTN that utilizes 56 kb/s clear channels. In addition, a system for adapting ATS-QSIG standard-based content transmitted on a 64 kb/s clear channel for transmission on a 56 kb/s clear channel and a system for adapting ATS-QSIG standard-based content transmitted on a 56 kb/s clear channel for transmission on a 64 kb/s clear channel. The systems can be used, for example, as gateways to permit ATS-QSIG standard-based communications between 56 kb/s and 64 kb/s based networks.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2005Date of Patent: February 3, 2009Assignee: SolaCom Technologies Inc.Inventor: Eamon Friel
