Abstract: An electrode for an accumulator or cell includes electrically conductive chopped carbon fibers which are coated with a surfactant. Preferably, the carbon fibers are chopped crystal carbon fibers having a diameter of about 4 to 7 micrometers, chopped length of about 0.5 to 3.00 mm and a volume resistivity of about 0.5.times.10.sup.-3 to 2.0.times.10.sup.-3 ohm cm.
