  • Patent number: 11769460
Abstract: An image displaying apparatus with local dimming control with 2-line addressing is disclosed. The apparatus includes a display panel, a light-emitting diode (LED) backlight divided into a plurality of zones, and a control unit. The control unit is configured to couple a dimming data to the LED backlight. The zones of the LED backlight are driven by row enable signals and column driving signals based on the dimming data. Each individual column driving signal transmits a common brightness data, a first residual brightness data, and a second residual brightness data. A first row enable signal has a first enable pulse in a frame period, and a second row enable signal has a second enable pulse in the frame period. The first and second enable pulses are at least partially overlapped for reducing a pulse current of the LED backlight for enhancing a lifetime of the LED backlight.

  • Patent number: 10950194
Abstract: In a display panel, drivers for driving LEDs of pixels are distributed over a substrate, and transceivers relay pixel data from a timing controller to the drivers. The drivers are divided into groups. Respective drivers in a group receive corresponding pixel data addressed thereto solely from one corresponding transceiver. The corresponding transceiver and the respective drivers are daisy-chained to form one first linear daisy chain, where each pair of immediately-adjacent first drivers are connected. Plural first linear daisy chains are formed for all groups. The transceivers are daisy-chained to form a second linear daisy chain by connecting each pair of immediately-adjacent transceivers. The first and second linear daisy chains form a fishbone topology network to enable transmission of pixel data from the timing controller to the drivers while reducing a data-line footprint on the substrate that mounts the pixels, driver and transceivers in comparison to a conventional star-topology network.

  • Patent number: 10712885
Abstract: A touch screen device incorporating a display and a capacitive touch sensor. The device has a mode of operation in which a single touch sensor measurement is made up of multiple charge accumulations, which take place in different display cycles, ‘H-sync’, and whose time windows, defined by switch ‘S1’, commence with different time delays, 0, ?t1 and (?t1+?t2) from the drive pulse edge, ‘drive’, whose induced charge transfer they are accumulating. By subdividing the measurement into multiple charge accumulations, the amount of time needed in each display cycle for performing the touch sensor measurement can be reduced to avoid coinciding with periods of high display-induced noise.

  • Patent number: 10643519
Abstract: A method is provided that allows the use of monochrome PMOLED display driver to generate grayscale patterns without the need to change the resolution of the 1-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) on the data line (SEG). The method further allows the elimination of extra frame buffer display memory needed by conventional techniques. This is achieved by swapping display memory space for display image pixel color (grayscale) depth in the expense of display resolution. The method further allows grayscale pattern data to be written into frame buffer only once without additional control from the host controller. The method further allows the dynamic application of grayscale on selectable whole or portion of a scan line such that full grayscale image display or a mixture of monochrome and grayscale image display in a single display panel is possible.

  • Patent number: 10553138
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method of an adaptive driving compensation for enhancing display uniformity. Multiple input data patterns of the display panel are compared with image data by an image analyzing means or a user and thereby generate display control commands if non-uniformity in the display of image is detected by the image analyzing means or the user. A difference between pixel data associated with a current line and a preceding line is compared with a predefined threshold. A look up table (LUT) is scanned to add a compensation value on the pixel data the current line based upon the display control commands if the difference between the pixel data of the current line and the preceding line is greater than the predefined threshold or otherwise retain the original value of the said pixel data. The input data patterns with compensated pixel data or original pixel data is displayed.

  • Patent number: 10546368
Abstract: A method and a display driver for compensating the perceptual bias of edge boost when driving a display panel are provided. The method can pre-process an input image to compensate for a perceptual bias of edge boost, e.g., at a contiguous group of color bands in the input image prior to sending the input image in a form of plural frames to a display panel for display. The method includes the steps of partitioning an input image into one or more grayscale regions, segmenting the grayscale regions into a plurality of color bands, detecting a subtle but perceivably significant change of color or luminance between two adjacent color bands, identifying a transition region and performing color dilution on the transition region. The display driver can include an input buffer, an image processor configured to execute the above method and an output buffer.

  • Patent number: 10235971
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for enhancing display uniformity at display boundaries. A memory stores multiple input data patterns comprising pixel data to be displayed for multiple display time intervals. A comparator receives input data patterns for a preceding time interval. The comparator compares the difference between a pixel data associated with a pixel of a current line and a preceding line with a predefined threshold. A display controller determines a rescan pattern corresponding to a blanking time interval between the preceding display time interval and a current display time interval by driving the pixel data using a look-up table. The display panel displays the input data patterns corresponding to current display time interval after the blanking time interval having the rescan pattern such that coherency amongst display characteristics of the current display time interval and the preceding display time interval is achieved.
