    Abstract: A process of preparing biodegradable plastics material comprising 1) mixing a stabilizer such as an amide or metal salt with a partially hydrolyzed, water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) copolymer, 2) adding a plasticizer to the mixture, 3) mixing said materials in the temperature range of between 106 and 140 C. and 4) compounding the blend by known processes.
